Re: Housing market situation

The parking prices sound about right for the area, compared with around 15 million in say Nueva Las Condes. My doubt about those in Vitacura is the rentability. In Nueva Las Condes you can be pretty sure they’ll be rented continuously. The apartment in Nunoa for its size and location, I would say wa...

Re: Market crash! We have another Black Monday

I saw that Cencosud is at its lowest since 2004. Assuming that people will start buying stuff in the not too distant future, maybe it’s not a bad time to invest ?

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

It will be interesting on Friday to see what happens with the weekly riots in Plaza Italia, which I guess are no longer permitted

Re: appointments at Registro Civil to renew ID

I went to Registro Civil in Colina and it all worked out in the end. It seems that they have been getting way more people than usual due to them being one of the closest to Santiago that doesn't require you to get a time in advance, so I was on the line for about 2 hours. But the actual procedure w...

Re: Housing market situation

Out of interest, I find that in the areas that interest me, ie El Golf, and Nueva Las Condes, the recent problems have had no effect either on prices or rents. Tomorrow, I close on an apartment I visited last Wednesday, made an offer which was accepted on Thursday, and we would have signed the prome...

Re: cost to have a tile floor installed

I cant remember now how much I’ve paid for this, but I do know that the cost of the adhesive is very high, and can end up costing the same as the tiles. If the installer uses say Bekron, the cost is not too bad, but if for the tiles concerned, he needs to use Bekron DA, it really does work out expe...

Re: Housing market situation

Has anyone heard of a chilean landlord with a chilean house for rent basing the pricing in US dollars in his mind and then listing it on the market at the current peso conversion. Then as the peso has weakened over the last couple years he asks more pesos (doing the same conversion 2 years later fr...

Re: Can you bring: Zatarain's crab boil in the bag into Chile?

I suggested you give it a try, by declaring it at customs. At worst, you’ll have to dump it there. I sometimes bring in food items that I have no idea as to whether they are allowed or not, but always declare them, and have never had anything refused entry. I think it helps a lot by declaring stuff,...

Re: Pesos and Protests

What do you use as alternative to DaP? Here in Chile I just use DaP because it seems safer and a no worries solution, I tend to select more riskier investments in my homecountry, not in Chile. It is true that inflation just eats any interest profits though.. As a starter, a small apartment in a hig...

Re: Pesos and Protests

To me DAP are a waste of time. It doesnt even cover inflation. Far better to take advantage of other investments, which are cheaper than before and give a return worth having.

Re: Pesos and Protests

1 USD = 769.984 CLP Still not cheap........but the important part is the Central Bank getting the dollar under control and the market no longer wiping the floor with the peso. I guess I’m just selfish , but I was very happy with how things were when it was over 800, and maybe once the CB finishes i...
