Re: Any recommendation for a traumatólogo in Santiago?

You can give Jorge Cardona a call. He is Colombian but during his career, has worked in the US so must speak English. My wife is presently with him for arthritis problems with her shoulder and knees, which he is treating via stem cells. She sees him at Inbiormed.cl in Av Manquehue but if you google ...

Re: Online Service Taxation

I dont know the mechanics of it, but Australia recently started taxing all imports, even the low value ones that were previously not taxed. When I buy say from ebay in the US and have the item shipped to Aussie, ebay charge me the tax and somehow hand it over. I think the same is now happening with ...

Re: UK national marrying a Chilean in Chile

It’s some years since I did the same thing, and all I had was my passport. Just check with registro civil, as they are the ones that will be performing the marriage.

Re: Prefabricated Houses

Gloria, I think your ideas on the quality of Chinese products is out of date now. It’s not easy to find stuff that’s not made in China, and they certainly arent worse than those of other countries, if you take into account their prices.

Re: Furniture

I forgot to mention that you can also advertise on this site. If you put some photos on, maybe I’ll be interested in something myself.

Re: Furniture

There are loads of antique dealers in Santiago, but you will be ripped off terribly by them. They are scheisters. What I suggest is you advertise them on mercadolibre.cl with photos. I’ve bought and sold furniture there and the system works fine.

Re: Buying Gold/Silver Coins

Metals are a hedge against inflation, bank failure, negative interest rates, etc. Prices of precious metals are long term stable, making them an excellent store of value. Standard theory out of the book. Hedge against inflation ? .. untrue; look at prices over the last few years. Stable ? .... see ...

Re: Buying Gold/Silver Coins

Amongst all the shops in the metro station Escuela Militar, there is a shop that offers to buy/sell gold . It’s a nice looking place, but why anyone would want to invest in metals is beyond me.

Re: Housing market situation

Yeah...rent prices are not spiking. You have rent prices and sale prices. One of these is out of whack...inflated bubble. Guess what. It's not rent prices. The people that rent are simply not going to pay more than 200k-500k. If they are the unusual renter who either has a much higher appreciation ...

extranjeria, new system of appointments

It wasnt too long along ago that the dept of extranjeria announces with bells and whistles, their new system of attending by appointment only, at least as far as the issuance of permanent residence does. A friend of mine, who recently received his approval for permanent residence, and was advised by...

Re: Housing market situation

Santiago is actually pretty easy. Buy anything within 5 min walk of a metro station and you're golden. The Metro people have done all the research for you. Buy anything within 5 min walk of a metro station....at any price? Probe them. If they're firm, to me it's actually a good sign. It’s n...

Re: Housing market situation

As for black swans taking a dump on you; well, that is why they are black swans. Highly improbable events; but, you might still loose money to one. Buy a goose gun, and diversify. You can't see all the black swans coming, but if you spread your investments around it gets much harder for any particu...
