Re: Housing market situation

Santiago is actually pretty easy. Buy anything within 5 min walk of a metro station and you're golden. The Metro people have done all the research for you. Buy anything within 5 min walk of a metro station....at any price? Probe them. If they're firm, to me it's actually a good sign. It’s n...

Re: Housing market situation

As for black swans taking a dump on you; well, that is why they are black swans. Highly improbable events; but, you might still loose money to one. Buy a goose gun, and diversify. You can't see all the black swans coming, but if you spread your investments around it gets much harder for any particu...

Re: Housing market situation

Sorry atm46, but I cant agree with your theories about Prov . However, each to his own. If you hear of any parking places for sale, close to the Manuel Montt metro, please let me know, as I’m very happy with a 12% return with no risks.

Re: Housing market situation

And in terms of what's going to appreciate faster in the future - parking or apartments - my money generally would be on apartments. In Centro Centro and parts of Provi parking has done really well, and is probably a safe investment for a few more years. But at some point they will start really lim...

Re: Housing market situation

I can recommend Providencia, but not just any part. It’s a big area and not all really attractive if you are looking to buy as an investment. I have a standard one bed apartment, 2 blocks from Manuel Montt metro station, and believe me, the demand is high from renters. But as usual, the location is ...

Re: New rules for Latam.

I thought they were great in every way compared to Iberia !!! I think most airlines would fit this description. What annoys me (not with Iberia specifically, but with many airlines) is when you remember to check in 47 hours and 59 minutes before your flight leaves, 1 minute after the check in opens...

Re: Worth Getting Citizenship?

The "requisitos para la reimpresión de cédula de identidad"" includes "La última cédula de identidad debe tener una vigencia de a lo menos 1 mes a su próxima fecha de expiración." https://www.registrocivil.cl/principal/canal-tramites/cedula-de-identidad-para-chilenos I think that's saying you shoul...

Re: Worth Getting Citizenship?

As I have mentioned before, out of desperation I went to Talca during the chaos with Haitians in 2018. The PDI man didnt like itand said I should do it in the city where I lived. I pointed out that in the webpage , no mention is made of any such requirement, so he did the cert, but was not at all ab...

Re: Worth Getting Citizenship?

I managed to think of a lot of arguments in favour of getting citizenship (see my original post), but few if any have much substance in my opinion. There is only really one good argument against doing it, and that is the longwinded time consuming boring, annoying process that will take time away fr...

Re: Worth Getting Citizenship?

Admin, I’m confused by you comments anout assets being subject/not subject to estate taxes here. The article that I referred to specifically relates to “ extranjeros” who acquired assets outside of Chile from funds that originated outside Chile. This therefore dors not appear to apply to citizens a...
