Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Re: Border Closed through JUNE 30th (updated), citizens and residents included

Absurd policy - I can only think it is politically based. If the president allows vaccinated Chileans to travel internationally, then it would give a local backlash. The typical "the rich can go to Miami, but the poor has to stay in their tiny apartments" kind of thing. This might be correct, but fa...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

The "pase de movilidad" will be changed to no longer allow for people that live in comunas in paso 1 to leave their comunas, they'll only be able to move within their own comuna. For comunas in pasos 2 or higher will only be able to use their "pase de movilidad" to go to comunas up to paso 2, they ...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Yes, but that same article states that it was excemptions on 2 specific days. I don't think that explains the weird numbers. They basically should have vaccinated 100% of population with 1 dose - not just 100% of target population - for the numbers to add up.

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

I think those numbers on vaccination percentages in municapilities in RM are doubtful. If you look at Vitacura on https://yomevacuno.visorterritorial.cl/ then there are some weird stuff going on. Total population in Vitacura is around 94K and around 94k have received 1 dose? That just doesn't make s...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

I don't understand the lack of attention from the authorities to the variants of the virus. I am pretty convinced that either a Brazilian or Peruvian variant is rampant here as well. If it is more contagious and perhaps more deadly, it would explain a lot in terms of why Chile cannot control it. Fur...

Re: Amazon now offers free shipping to Chile

Thanks for the info. Makes sense.
And I second your ranking. WSP is terrible- they promise delivery in the morning- same evening a new message says that it could not be delivered, even though I was at home the entire day....
DHL has always been faultless.

Re: Amazon now offers free shipping to Chile

Rune - 2 weeks from "shipped" to "tenedered to local carrier".
in between there are 2 additional steps, "arrived in country" and "customs cleared".

Re: Amazon now offers free shipping to Chile

I have had one delivered with Chileexpress, one with DHL and one with WSP express (??). My guess is that they are evaluating logistics suppliers for the Chile section of the shipment. This is in Santiago

Re: Border Closed through JUNE 15th (updated), citizens and residents included

Greetings all. Anyone flown up to the states recently,? we flying to LA in mid July , to fly onto NZ. I know we need PCR flying into NZ and as we have nearly a week in LA just looking online it looks like it is easy enough to get a test within 72 hours to carry on to NZ. Anyone have any recommendat...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

It even included obesity as a pre existing condition. That is at least 20-25% of the population, even though I think quite a few people would be too embarrassed to actually request the vaccine on that basis.

Re: Amazon now offers free shipping to Chile

I second EEUU - I have made between 10-25 orders from Amazon during the last 2-3 years. Never lost a shipment. Had a product that wasn't what was advertised once, but Amazon promptly returned the money, even without me having to return the product. All delivered by DHL (and have not had the issue EE...
