Re: chaos in PDI

It seems that I need to wait until summer, so I can sleep outside without ending up with hypothermia. Why cannot you make an appointment? Shouldn´t you go to extranjeria instead? We have used that service successfully in the past, right before immigration became explosive http://www.extranjeria.gob...

Re: Searching for best projects.. Opinions Please?

I found your question interesting and some of the answers too. It is true that Chileans are not too keen on trying new foods. However, more and more middle class Chileans travel abroad and come back with new tastes. I would not say they become foodies all the sudden but there is a certain "proto-foo...

So you are claiming that Haparanda is as bad as Malmo?

Nope, just saying that if you have a large number of immigrants, of course they will scatter throughout the whole country but with tendency to cluster around the larger metropolitan areas (Malmö is not that large but it is fairly large)

Re: chile's migration crisis

. It is the same in Sweden, Stockholm, Gothenburg, and primarily the south with Malmo are lost. But up in the northern forests and tundra things are the same since many generations. I saw plenty of kebab places in Haparanda, quite far north... even in Finland that has received considerably less imm...

Hey pdi found 4 indians using chile as a transit to europe.

So, they found 4 in a month? And it sounds like mostly by accident?

sorry, the pdi is either in on it or totally incompetent.
I read from at least 2 other sources that they had like 50 cases so far, and not only from India

Re: Fresh milk and farmers cheese

Well, this article suggests an interesting theory, pretty much blaming New Zealand and free trade for the poor quality of Chilean dairy

Get a POBox.
I have never used that service but by reading a bit, it seems like it is used mainly to get the stuff you bought abroad. But, when you need to send from Chile, is there any alternative? Or does this work both ways?

People, Correos Chile has a reputation going back decades for not being able to deliver junk mail correctly, let alone anything of value.

Why would you risk using it for an international shipment?
So what alternatives do you suggest?

Re: Finding the Doctor

Depends on where you are. It is very easy, in any clinic. Usually it is much easier if you have "RUT" number but you can make an appointment with your passport just anywhere. Go to a private provider of course. You will have to pay upfront and then arrange with your health insurance back home. If yo...

While I'll be moving out of Chile in a couple of weeks Oh oh, did you have enough of Chile already  Do you plan to share or discuss more about this, here or elsewhere? yes of course, that is the idea, to share it with those who do not feel comfortable with the Chilean system Also, do you have ...

Re: chile's migration crisis

I am actually surprised how the demography has changed in two years. Went to Dominos and only the caja and manager was Chilean, the rest presumbly Hiatian or Dominican. I guess many are mire educated and willing to work hard then locals? NOt necessarily. A Chilean girl who was doing uber told me sh...

Re: Preschool/nursery in Chile

In our case we have already decided that we do not want our child to attend any "normal" Chilean school. We live in Finland but we will be spending more and more time in Chile in the future. He is only 4 months but we are already working on a project with a friend of mine who has been a teacher here...
