Re: Chilean Driver's License

As long you have a temporary residence your valid USA license is enough. Int’l not required.

Drivers license is irrelevant for purchase.

Re: Renewing your cédula de identidad if you have permanent residence.

PDI database has been wrong twice in my experience, once not having the evidence of a trip I needed to avoid losing my residence, which they only found after I presented the stamp from an expired passport I had almost thrown out. Another time they lost the evidence of my daughter entering Chile, whe...

Re: Newbie considering Chile

“Love it but....” “My clinica is very successful....” I think in this case Gloria nailed it. Whatever she doesnt like in Curnca she wont like about Concepcion or other place in Chile either. So convince her she needs to change her attitude or go with Glorias rec. And Concepcion has a small expat pop...

Re: Obtaining a driving license with no education certificate

Until you have a permanent residence carnet its very unlikely you will be hassled for driving with a valid Florida license. Once you have a permanent residence it is necessary to get a Chilean license. There is no exchange. You have to show proof of education and do written and practical tests. Now ...

Re: Funny but useless account of trip to Chile

I should have twigged to the fact that this was Canada.

I was actually in Tillsonburg in 1978 or 79 when I was running car rallies in Southern Ontario.

But it wasnt a very memorable experience.

Re: Looking for Santiago Dog Rescue Group

Well done. My daughter found this little one on the streets of Nunoa, a few months old and not doing well. Now 8 and living the good life in White Rock BC. Here seen enjoying a Sunday morning ride, her second favourite activity after quadding in the woods. DD56E01E-CE3F-4A97-AD27-7CAC3D1A99C3.jpeg

Re: Citizenship, new requirement for time in country

Thought I had answered, but seems it was lost....

I was out of the country 2012-2013 and applied for citzenship in 2014.

They only said verbally that the absence was not relevant.

The application was approved after an interview and then about 4 months wait.

Re: Citizenship, new requirement for time in country

I left Chile for Uruguay and stayed there 18 months, but came back 1 day after 350 days out. Extranjeria and PDI said this had no affect on my qualification time for citizenship, and my application was approved. With other qualifications however, that eventually caused me to walk away, but thats ano...
