Re: Leaving Chile

It seems to me that a 46 inch TV is only about $300. Hardly worth shipping one. Besides, isn't the TV system different between the USA and South America? Would the TV even work in the USA? Oh wait. Are you going someplace else besides the USA? Maybe do a search on Walmart and Costco web pages to see...

Re: cell phone hygiene...!

When the toilet is flushed with the lid up, it sprays little droplets into the air. Cell phones could be getting contaminated just because they are sitting on the edge of the sink, in range of those droplets. (just like your toothbrush is getting sprayed with toilet water and urine)

What? Wait a minute. Fishermen squatting at high tide? I'm on it. Itty bitty travel trailer, a fishing pole, and all of a sudden I have beach front property. Pull it down the road to the next beach if the government comes to move me out. And to think, I was planning on paying money for beach propert...

Re: Coal mine project in Chilean Patagonia

This is a very good time to be working towards energy independence. The world wide energy situation is not going to get any better. If Chile uses the most modern coal technology, it's not such a pollution issue. If Chile uses the Chinese model, expect the local citizens to be poisoned. They are goin...

Re: The Obama Administration

I've been watching Mrs Clinton on the TV exhorting Mubarak to start transitioning the government over to the opposition. The opposition? Really?? And who might that be? There is no organized opposition. Who will the negotiating be with? Well, there is starting to be an organized opposition. The Musl...

Re: Medical Tourism Business

Chile doesn't seem to have a good grasp on the concept of tourism, so the medical part of it wouldn't be your only problem.

Strikers closed the border crossing?

Sorry, no sympathy for Argentina. Their government allowed strikers to close the border crossing between Argentina and Uruguay for years. It's OK when they do it but it sounds like they don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot.

Re: Civil Strife Southern Patagonia Jnuary 2011

[[[[.....It is kind of like ignoring a crying baby in a super market.'''']]]]] Nobody ever asks me (can't imagine why) but I'd be making announcements that the price of gas would go up 1 % for every day of the strike, starting now. That would turn the protesters into the bad guys after a few days of...

Re: Turnabout is fair play: Chileans in the US

What's good about the USA? My foreign guests (not Chilean, they are British) arrive with empty suitcases so they can shop shop shop. Goods here cost about 1/3 what they pay there. So, big plus: huge variety of very cheap goods and clothing. They also want: American style pizza American style ice cre...

Still, of passing interest that someone with a following is advocating Chile. There may be another wave of incoming.
