Re: Applying to residencia definitiva. Now what?

OK. I have an update. Today we found out that the residencia definitva is approved! The approval date was Aug/27, that means that in this case it took two months :D We haven´t received the letter yet, because it still needs to pass some kind of internal paperwork, but they said before the end of the...

Valle Nevado for 10 mil!

Hi I just bought a coupon in cuponatic.cl that offers the daily ticket for Valle Nevado by 10,000 pesos. It is only good for next week´s monday, tuesday or wednesday and you have only two more hours to buy it. Only if 20 coupons are sold, the discount will be valid, so that is why I´m spreading the ...

Re: Dogs on the streets

Plata is an awesome name for a dog found in an ATM! I hope she (he?) can bring some real plata as well, like babies "y la marraqueta bajo el brazo" Anyway, I think dogs in the street show lack of education and responsible pet ownership, and also lack of policies to end with this, but at the same tim...

Re: Dogs on the streets

Chixx001, Don´t worry about your dog. It all depends where you live. In my personal opinion to live in Santiago (downtown) with a dog is a bad idea, because the apartments are in general very small, and because it is the financial - government zone, that means no parks or areas where you can decentl...

Re: Dogs on the streets

I think the situation of stray dogs is sad, but at the same time I think they´re part of the culture for chileans, so the approach is very different for locals than for "gringos". I´m talking as a local here. "Quiltros" (stray dogs and the word for mutts as well) have been around since always, peopl...

Re: Rental contracts for furnished flats

Mary Jo, I don´t know what are you looking for exactly, but in my building they are renting a one bedroom, furnished, new apartment for 300,000. It´s in Providencia. I don´t know anything else, I just heard about it when the conserje mentioned it to someone else. So, if you would like to explore the...

Re: Applying to residencia definitiva. Now what?

Really my only worry is the driver´s license. Without the new documents you can´t apply to the driver´s license, and according the law (as far as I know), you should not drive with an international DL if you have a carnet de identidad, so if something happens we´re driving out of law. I know that ma...

Applying to residencia definitiva. Now what?

Hi! I have been reading some posts about the residencia definitiva application, and I have a question. We sent the documents a month ago, received the extension two weeks after, and paid the fee right away. The application was very neat, with all the documents identified and including a list with al...

Re: Time to receive a Residencia Permanente Visa?

I have a related question. Can you leave the country while you are in "en trámite" status? Or it is like in the States that you have to remain in the country till you receive your green card? We have to travel for a wedding at home, so I wonder if that is possible to do if we are in the middle of th...
