Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

all communities in metro region are returning to quartine. What a joke, a very bad joke, as if that will solve anything, or even help in any meaningful way, lockdowns are a failure at this stage of the pandemic they are just politicians trying to look like they are doing something, there is nothing...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Yeah, you do have a point, admin for smaller population areas. Where I live the cases are all pretty far away. Never around here. But, as I suspected, we will go back to lockdown. I doubt it will be any more effective than the last one! Thanks for that calculation, Fugger. I was wracking my brain as...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

so suprise, suprise, the communities with the lowest vaccination rates, are also the highest number of cases. En la misma línea, el documento revela que Puente Alto continúa como la comuna con más casos a nivel nacional, superando los dos mil contagiantes, llegando a 2.448. La siguen Maipú (1.657);...

Re: Solar PV in Chile

Thanks for that info Britkid. We get pretty frequent power cuts here despite having underground cabling in the condominio. I know there are a lot of complaints about CGE in general. I'm thinking maybe you have CGE there too? I have been interested in exploring the solar panel option. My husband less...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

The following message about sinovac was approved by the central committee, and it is not a good sign: https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202106/1225472.shtml a third dose of sinovac, 3 and 6 months later boost immunity 10 fold. great, what are you saying? parse that from polite politically correct chi...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

More like Southern Greater Santiago is the issue, which isn't surprising.

In my neck of the woods, southern RM, we have Buin - 75%/51%, Paine 73%/53%, Isla de Maipo 77%/57% and Pirque 83%/62%. (I couldn't figure out how to make the pretty graphics). All are above the regional and national average.

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

I really wonder what they are doing with the AFP money. Why are the fees so high and returns so bad? I plan to take the third withdrawal too. Currently, I have a mix of mutual funds, stocks, and an emergency savings account.

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

The "pase de movilidad" will be changed to no longer allow for people that live in comunas in paso 1 to leave their comunas, they'll only be able to move within their own comuna. For comunas in pasos 2 or higher will only be able to use their "pase de movilidad" to go to comunas up to paso 2, they ...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Speaking of supermarkets. The lack of products and shortages of many things is noticeable, coffee varieties, cereals and lots of other product lines have been serverly reduced for many months in Puerto Varas. Building supplies seem have to become a bit more regular, but very expensive now compared ...

An UDI guy was also talking about that. https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/nacional/chile/2021/06/02/alessandri-udi-plantea-retirar-100-de-fondos-afp-en-cuarto-proyecto-para-evitar-expropiacion.shtml I'd take it. I've taken two of my allowed withdrawals so far and it's doing better in stocks that i...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Donnybrook - Here in town, all the supermarkets have always been really strict about checking permits in phase 1 and 2 (on weekends). My friends in La Reina/Las Condes, etc. have said no one cares in most stores. Supposedly the Tottus in Los Dominicos is one of the few that checks.
