Re: Feeling guilty need advice

You are right I need another dog like I need a hole in the head. My heart strings get pulled each and every time I leave the compound. I have enough on my plate right now so to speak but I think the instinct to help animals is so overwhelming sometimes it erases all logical thoughts. Meh I don't kn...

Re: My property in the USA for property / house in Chile

Ah, sad I missed the whole exchange with smoke jumper- I was out of town for a while.

So, he self-destructed? Probably not surprising; if he's a real jumper, he exists in a cocoon and may not know how to function in society. Many can be insufferable pricks, especially the young ones.

Re: weird hackers

To put this in perspective, just like in the case of Pakistan for years, we have like perhaps 1-2 contacts a year from nationals of all the surrounding countries to Iran combined. That includes Iraq (you would think more people would want out of Iraq). I have had like 30 calls and emails this month...

Re: The State of the States

Your condescending attitude is tiresome! I'm quite well versed in economic theory (under graduate degree in economics) and reject your criticism of Krugman's analysis and your contempt for Keynesian economic theory. You are undoubtedly a proponent of laissez-faire capitalism (which has been thoroug...

Paper representations of wealth have value through confidence and sometimes political coercion. Digital currrencies are probably the same, but with a shorter half-life :?:

Re: R.I.P. U.S.A.

I think the health care issue stems to the following set of criteria, the most recent version is Obamacare but Bush frigging blew the doors off costs with his medical prescription law too. So this isn't a right left thing 1. Do you believe it is a human right to have access to health care ? If you ...

Re: R.I.P. U.S.A.

Red, the top-down guys must be shaking in their boots at the thought of you ensconsed in your little cocoon. Naw, john, I know they don't do that. I'm way outnumbered. Though I figure if 10% of the pop took the steps I've taken, the system wouldn't last a year. At 25%, not a month. An...

the two positions are locked in a zero sum game between the conflict of the rights of things and those of the people the party of the overly exclusive and the fully inclusive What I find disturbing is how much pablum is used to legitimize everyone's preconceived notions about what is "best" for Ame...

Re: independence day...

Unfortunately, the solution is not that simple: Yes, highly indebted families should stop spending immediately. However if everyone else (especially governments) were all to stop spending tomorrow, in short order, the world would experience an economic depression that would make the "Great Depressi...

Re: R.I.P. U.S.A.

That's just economy of scale/buying in bulk. Should that be held against those who are able to take advantage of it? That's not what I meant by special interests.
