Re: LATAM leaving OneWorld

It seems that AA will be at the short end. They recently closed their Admiral Club in Santiago and depended on LATAM lounge. Do not know if that lounge will still be available when the deal with Delta is completed. Last week I was flooded out in Texas, and AA rerouted me to JFK to use LATAM flight b...

Do cellular phones bought in Chile work in the US?
Gloria,
I have an unlocked Samsung that I bought from Lider. It is working fine with my T-Mobile GSM chip.

Re: New rules for Latam.

The problem is their software / online booking system is crap at Lan. At one point, for several months, you would go to select your seat, and it would reload the screen showing the plane, with all the seats booked. In less than 15 seconds, a flight that had all seats available, had none. I just had...

Re: Getting a Driver's License

Short version: 1. Make photo copy of your diploma 2. Have it notarized. In my case, on the photo copy of the diploma, I typed in: "I certify that this is a copy of the true diploma, my name, my signature, date" and asked the notary service to notarize my signature 3. Send it to the state department...

Re: Baking Wholemeal Rye Bread Workshop

Rye sourdough bread doesn´t appeal to me very much, however I have been experimenting making "marraquetas", "pan amasado" and pita breads, both with regular white flour and is getting better every day. Is really fascinating, pleasant and good tasting! Gloria, I guess you are still ;-)young ;-) and ...

If I make it back to the States, my plan is to buy some sourdough starter culture and begin experimenting.

If you want it soon, I am traveling in May and can bring a box back (assuming I can get it from the grocery store Kroger or Walmart)

Re: cranberry juice

In Jumbo in Talca (la Florida location), you can find Ocean Spray Cranberry juice, no need to know the name in Spanish :-)
In Lider in Talca (in the mall of Talca next to the Casino), it is Great Value Cranberry juice (some what cheaper than the Ocean Spray brand at Jumbo)

Re: Latam customer service ordeal

I used mileage with AA and never had to pay any tax. There is a fee of $70, and they waive that fee to their frequent flyer customers. A few days ago, I flew coach from HOU to DFW to SCL for 30,000 miles and $5.60 booking fee. Typically, I used AA miles to buy ticket on AA flight operated by LATAM w...

Re: Wine Journal VIII

It reads SAUVIGNON SEMILLON. And the cork was at such a miserable state that indeed I would guess at least 12 years old. Never saw such wine since my first entry into Chile in 2008. The color was exactly like moderately brewed tea. But the aroma and taste... I recognized immediately this taste of w...

Re: Rejected Payments

When I came here, I never had any problem charging with my US credit cards. However, as soon as they installed the wireless devices, they rejected the US credit cards (mine, others as I observed in restaurants and shopping malls). My guess is that the wireless devices that they used to swipe the cre...

Perhaps you can report the quantity of consumption so we can repeat the experience with whatever wine available at hand :-) :-)

Re: How to Fail Your Revision Tecnica

I just started having our regular taxi driver pick them up and take them through revisions techinca. Got tired of waisting my own time on it. Many insurance companies (not SOAP, but the extra insurance) offer free service to pick up the car to the inspection (revisión técnica) place and bring the c...
