Re: Porotos, and their photos...

... the number of petals was more than it had to be (like, 7, 8, or 9, where there must be 5 petals exactly)... Now I remember them. The flowers of the wild strawberry plant they were, must be white with five petals exactly. I counted from 6, 7, to 9, more often than 5. It was rural setting, some 6...

Yeah here in the US double-yolked eggs don't make it to the grocery store, but the farmers get plenty of them
Maybe a dumb question, but how would the farmers know if the eggs were double yoked or not with out breaking them open?
The ones by two-headed hens -- they are generally double yoked.

Re: Porotos, and their photos...

This is the time of year where porotos granados are harvested and plentiful. There is no sorting, you have to buy a couple kilos and peel out the beans yourself. Yes, and this varies week to week. One week all vendors seem to sell "straight" and "normal' beans (I mean porotos "granados"), another w...

Not a very much distorted one. But, see? Still screwed. Spiralling, sort of.

Re: Porotos, and their photos...

Cosmic radiation intensity due to weakening of the magnetic field especially in this part of the world? When being out in the sun, the sun does feel and seem more intense than a decade+ back. No, this is all the biodegradable plastic bags entering our food chain. On a serious note, back in 2009 -- ...

Re: Porotos, and their photos...

I don't believe this is about GMO. I first started to notice the change to the beans while living in the Temuco area, around 2010 0r 2011. Prior to that, there was no "screwed" beans whatsoever -- in the Temuco market or in the feria. Currently, however, the change is related to so many other fruits...

Re: Porotos, and their photos...

Mani crudo. Sometimes, they are screwed in a very similar way. This photo is not showing the structure well, though. 04.jpg EDIT: Now that I have pealed more nuts, here is another picture showing 4 more or less acceptable (to the right) and 4 screwed (to the left) for the comparison. 05.jpg 06.jpg

Bought at the market, here in Valpo...

Not every lot is like this, but more often than desirable. Unfortunately.

Should I post a photo of peanuts?..

Just a coincidence that today is a blood moon lunar eclipse and a 6.7 (technically yesterday) occurs. 2010 also occurred during a full moon.
Felt it here in Valpo, BTW. Not strong, but quite a prolonged one.

Re: Fresh milk and farmers cheese

Trying to figure out the production date, I visited their website contact form at:

www .soprole .cl/es/nosotros/contact-us.html

There, they list several forms of contact, namely, filling out the form, sending email, calling the 800 number, and support chat on facebook.

Sent mail to: soproleresponde < NO EMAIL > soprole . cl --- no response whatsoever.

Filled out the form -- automated reply arrived telling me they will respond shortly. No response followed.

Asked on the facebook chat, the tick mark acknowledged their reading the question, and the average response time is listed as several hours. No response followed.

Called the 800 number 3 times, talked to different persons.

The scenario goes as follows. They place me on hold for several minutes repeatedly ("trying to find out the information requested"), and upon return are telling me, "you know... we do not maintain the production date on packaging".

To my follow up question asking to provide, approximately, the number of days (months) I should subtract from the expiry date, or to give me the "shelf life" of the product, they again place me on hold for several minutes repeatedly, and again, upon return, are telling me, "you know, we do not maintain the production date on packaging".

Only once, one lady said something like "... a little bit more than 180 days is our shelf life". To my follow up question telling them that I already have a pack reading the 1st of September 2019 expiry date, and that 180 days before would be the 1st of March which is impossible -- they continue to place me on hold with the "you know, we do not maintain the production date on packaging" as the response.

Giving up on them.

Investigating the competitors' printed date, only one of them, namely CALO, has the lot number coded exactly reflecting the production date in the format of "**ddmmyy". This is almost exactly 180 days.

Re: Fresh milk and farmers cheese

Have you ever encountered sour milk in a UHT package? :) A while ago, left a glass of the Soprole UHT for 48 hours at the room temperature, and the very nice culture formed on the 2nd day. Since then, I refresh it daily, and use this culture with much pleasure. This is the 4th one that is maintaine...
