Re: Chilean private schools compared to good US public schools

Thank you @britkid and @donnybrook. I think my third-hand impression about focus not being strictly academic but more integral has been the same. At least in my sons preschool that has been the case. I sometimes speak to friends in USA with kids about the same age and they are cranking out all these...

Re: Chilean private schools compared to good US public schools

@admin I had the exact same experience entering University. I had some friends who went to quite good private schools (in NYC area) and who were way ahead of me academically. I had to work very hard to catch up and I was left feeling like the last four years of public high school were just a waste o...

Re: Chilean private schools compared to good US public schools

I should add that my son speaks spanish (understands all english) but we would prefer a school that offers the IB or something like that? I'm really not sure :(

Chilean private schools compared to good US public schools

Hey guys. I've been through some of the other (older) threads about schools in Chile. My wife and I have been here 10 years this October. We have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. We had always thought we would migrate back to the USA when the oldest started kindergarten, but, with how things are now, ...

Re: u.s. immigration and children

My wife and I were looking at relocating to the USA this year (I am from NY, she is Uruguayan). But I have lost all appetite for returning. She is a Uruguayan citizen, no green card, kids are US Citizens but born here in chile (did all the paper work). It's just too scary to think what could happen ...

Re: FATCA repeal introduced to the house of reps

Boy i hate paying taxes.

I wish we had a flat tax. I can't stand digging through paper and googling days to try to figure out whats what. The IRS docs are almost always to nonspecific to give me any sort of peace of mind that im reporting correctly and not screwing myself over in some shape.

Re: The Trump Administration

So I tend to fall on the divide with Andres but want to articulate my thinking on it all. 1 - I think it is too easy to conflate all poor/working poor as TV junkies who smoke and drink and eat like shit, etc. I think most people are probably just decent working folk, with varying levels of education...

Yes in this case the media isnt exaggerating or being hyperbolic. I hate executive over reach. We really need to reign it in.

Re: The Trump Administration

It's impossible to talk about politics with anyone anymore, unless you agree with them. I didn't vote for Trump or Hillary (voted for the G-man), my dad voted for Trump, and like many thinks that Trump is great 'cause he's going to bring back jobs (apparently staved off the shutting down of a car pl...

Income from LLC in USA (pass-through entity)

How would I go about doing this? My accountant doesn't have a clear answer for me. :( It's income for software consulting services, but as it is a pass through entity, it goes on my personal Schedule C at the end of the year and counts as Foreign Earned Income Exclusion. I don't know what the best w...
