Re: chile's migration crisis

Interestingly, despite 288,000 Venezuelans in Chile, they got only 24 housing subsidies over the last three years. https://www.latercera.com/nacional/noticia/perfil-del-venezolano-chile/531365/?fbclid=IwAR0RBKfnx51nDRV8cheeQmYGBeLwlIu6ekkkcIcD7z-H-zajU8X44TX1sWw You may find that interesting but: S...

I also think you should use quotation marks when writing 'humanitarian aid' for Venezuela. In my humble opinion, it is anything but, given how the US has been choking Venezuela for years.
Don't presume to tell me how to write. Its like putting words into my mouth and I don't like it.

The Venezuelan pretty boy was elected under the same system as Maduro. To say that one is rotten and the other smells good is a bit of a stretch, to say the least :)
I said that the Maduro government is rotten, nothing more.
Don't invent stuff, try reading what you are quoting first.

Re: looking to buy land in rural area (1-5 hectares)

Hey, happy to see you both finally moving to the south! Pardon my curiosity: aren't 5 ha quiet by default? If you put a house in the center, I doubt you'll hear your neighbors often. But as far as I know, completely standalone parcelas are magnets for burglars. Thing is that the countyside is usual...

Re: Venezuela crisis

Yesterday, Venezuelan vice-president Delcy Rodríguez warned that the humanitarian food aid being stockpiled in Colombia was poisoned and causes cancer. https://www.elcomercio.com/actualidad/delcy-rodriguez-ayuda-humanitaria-cancer.html And today, the Italian press filtered the Pope´s response to Mad...

Re: looking to buy land in rural area (1-5 hectares)

There are plenty of areas of this type in Tierra del Fuego. Thing is that homo sapiens is a social, if not particularly sociable animal. To live in isolation first of all needs building and maintaining a road to get to the property, assuming it connects directly to some form of public highway. Other...

Re: My horror encounter with German investors in Chile

What a bizarre tale. Hope you aren't a troll.(For a translator, your English is slightly subpar) Are you doing all this on a Tourist Visa, or do you have a formal contract of employment? If you are "for real", your European outlook is a liability here and will cause you endless problems. Don't belie...

Re: Expat leaving debts in Chile

sorry, but most of those little local hardware stores have needed to be put down with both barrels for decades I never said that they were any good! One of the worst aspects of the local stores was the seemingly eternal wait while a customer spent ages discussing with the vendor why he needed some ...

Re: Expat leaving debts in Chile

Egads...I was already sold on Falabella in terms of an investment, but this is just over the top. Falabella is like the Godfather.... You must have led a sheltered life. AFAIK their modus operandi is quite acceptable and law-abiding. Now La Polar is another story: SANTIAGO.- La jueza María Verónica...

Re: Expat leaving debts in Chile

well, also, i have spent more money at sodimac than any company in chile. just not on a credit card. Well, its hard not to shop there since they killed off most of the competition. Within a couple of years of the malls opening here, many of the small traditional retailers in the centre of town clos...

Re: Expat leaving debts in Chile

Perhaps you have stood in the queue in Sodimac patiently waiting while the person in front of you has a long involved negotiation with the cashier over the amount they can pay using their CMR Falabella store card. I used to wonder why this couldn't be done at a separate checkout to speed up the proc...

Re: Expat leaving debts in Chile

I know of expats who have left 50k or more debt with no qualms, all while here on temporary contracts. It's a crazy amount of credit! So that's why its so difficult for an expat to get a bank account here..... I blame the system, especially the evil banks who thrust money at hapless consumers. Take...
