Re: Let us write a constitution for Chile.

I am totally willing to vote for a communist, gay transgender mapuche "women", if she / he is qualified and can sell me on having good ideas for a constitution and the country; but, don't dilute my right to vote for them, or not, with pre-rigged quota bullshit. Alternately, if there arn't quotas, t...

She was a 15 week old fetus buried in a shoe box, wrapped in a white cloth and buried close to an abandoned church in the pampa. Here's another view point: https://www.etilmercurio.com/em/the-girl-from-la-noria/ An analysis by a leading forensic anthropologist showed nothing particularly unusual abo...

Re: Chile 2017 Presidential Election

y If you run out of poor people to vote for you, just make some more. If you are still short, just import thousands of poor people from the rest of latin america. The other socialist administrations in latan america, have made plenty of extras to go around. ... Given you have to be in Chile 5 years...

Re: Draught proofing these god-awful Chilean windows - any hints?

If you don't mind about aesthetics and it is baltic cold. Bubble wrap is an amazing insulation material, working on the same principles as PVC double glazing. I use it over a vent, that goes directly to outside, in an under stair well cupboard (could of been an extra toilet space, hence the ventila...

Chungará always worth a visit (but take plenty of chacacoma for puna/altitude sickness.

Pica and Salar de Huasco are lovely (but chilly in the night)

Obviously, Antofagasta is the pearl of the north!

Re: Draught proofing these god-awful Chilean windows - any hints?

Is it possible to add a second window on the inside or outside? In Europe, it was not all that uncommon, for energy savings reasons, to have two windows. A metal window frame will almost always transmit more energy than the glass, even if fully sealed. There is a reason they use aluminium to cool c...

Draught proofing these god-awful Chilean windows - any hints?

Folks like many people here (I presume) I live in a building with terrible fitting extruded aluminium windows (the brown coloured ones). Our building is about 15 years old, and the windows don't fit too well, resulting in terrible draughts. We live up high in Antofagasta and it gets quite windy at n...
