Re: Are you soaking (or rinsing) quinoa before cooking?

Wow 800 pesos for 250 gm. box! I have to pay $5 USD for 340 gm. box here in the US. Next time I am in Chile I will stock up!

Re: chiropractor

There is a great chiro who has offices in Vina and Santiago. He is from the US and trained in the US as well. I saw him several times while I was living in Chile. His name is Steve Flint and you can contact him at dr4spine@quiro.cl. His wife is Chilean and they are both bi-lingual. Check him out. Ji...

Re: Buying a used car ( automatic)

Yes...indeed I did mean 'buyer beware'! We learned our lesson, the hard way...and the stress and the added $$$ (repairs) about did us in. But I believe that what goes around...comes around. So the seller will not profit in the end...at least I hope not.

Re: Buying a used car ( automatic)

Can 'o worms subject for me!!! We too were looking to buy a good used car, automatic preferred. We 'found' one offered here on ALLCHILE and 'thought' we had found an honest seller, and a sound car. Boy were we wrong on both counts! We paid $6,000 USD cash for the car. First mistake we made...'TAKE Y...

Re: Fishy revision tecnica results?

Welcome to Chile. We had nothing but trouble with the revision technica. It is a big sham to say the least. We saw tons of cars on the roads all rusted out, mufflers hanging off, broken lights, etc. But we take in an older model, immaculate Peugeot and it is refused, for some oddball reason that I c...

Re: FONASA

In the US, if one has a full time job with medical benefits, the employer pays a portion of the monthly premium and the employee pays a portion. The amounts vary depending on the coverage and the percentages. Needless to say, it is not cheap. My daughter has herself insured at her job and pays as I ...

Re: FONASA

As I read his post about Fonasa and his comment of paying 170,000 YTD. That comes out to about $32 USD per month. You couldn't get a case of band-aids in the US for that amount. So I would consider that WAY CHEAP.

Re: Anyone know a good chiropractor in Stgo?

Steve Flint, DC is the one I used...as 'gringobiker' mentioned him here. I have given out his name now to at least 4 folks on ALLCHILE who wrote a PM to inquire. Just make sure one goes to a REAL chiro...not the wkend. course fake Chilean ones around here.

Re: Is there Babywearing in Chile?

Maxine, Thanks for the plus vote! I think I will bring down only slings as they seem to be the easiest and most popular. I personally like the front packs and over the years/babies I birthed I purchased and used several different styles. When I had my birth center in the US I contacted various compa...

Re: Is there Babywearing in Chile?

I remember this subject floating about elsewhere briefly...or at least I remember writing to 'Tombi' about it. I am glad to hear that some moms are using this wonderful way to 'carry' their babies. I am a mother of six...and my oldest will be 35 in November. We had a baby front pack carrier from the...

Re: Tofu~Dofu

We have been lucky enough to find sources here and there of good fresh tofu. When we lived in Campiche, we bought it from an 'intentional community' in Renaca. When visiting our daughter in Concepcion we bought it from a little health food store just off campus. And just this week a friend brought m...
