Re: Quarentines and fines

Anyone know how the mandatory 14 self-quarantine after entering Chile is playing out in reality? We need to fly from the States to Puerto Montt and then fly home the next day. Anyone know if this is even possible? After 6 years of working on getting an important aspect of our farm legalized, we fina...

Re: Internet in Rural areas

Can you please tell us more about how much your solution cost? I'm really interested in learning more about it. Any resources to read more are also appreciated. We used Ubiquity Wi-Fi radios such as this: https://www.ui.com/airmax/powerbeam-ac-gen2/ They aren't that expensive. Each one costs about ...

Re: Internet in Rural areas

We live on a lake with no road or internet. Between us and internet, there are some low mountains over a distance over 10 miles. How we solved the problem was to put in a series of repeaters from town, where there is fiber-optic internet, to where we live. We have three repeaters. The third is solar...

Re: Chilean Borders To close Wednesday, March 18th

Are the border closures just for entering Chile? Can you still leave if you don't need to come back? Or are they preventing departures as well?

Re: Chile Declares State of Emergency for 90 days

I just heard a rumor that Piñara was going go quarantine the country by sections later in the week. Does anyone have solid information on this? I'm traveling and I don't want to get stuck somewhere unpleasant.

Re: llamica Pellet stoves

Maybe it would.

But would you build a false chimney and see if it worked? Or would you take the stove back and get one that worked without going to all the trouble of constructing one?

Re: llamica Pellet stoves

Good ideas. I've looked up the draft parameters and the installation is inside the brackets of what I can find. Regarding trying it on a cold day: We tried it the third week in January when it was about 35-40 degrees outside (we live in the mountains and January was cold). I haven't fired it up sinc...

llamica Pellet stoves

Llamica Pellet stoves seemed like a really neat idea. They make Pellet stoves that run without electrecity. That would be great when the electricity went out, right? And it came with a 1 year guarantee! So I paid over $1000 (800 mil) for one of their stoves and had it installed. I followed the direc...

Cheap Tickets on American

I stumbled across a real bargain on American Airlines. They have Mileage tickets for half price. I bought tickets from Santiago to Dallas and back to fly just before Christmas for 15000 miles each way. Low-cost mileage seats usually aren't available near Christmas at all. At other times, when they a...
