Re: Tourist visa expiring? We have a solution.
I was in this exact situation. I am living with my Chilean girlfriend of many years. Given that she cannot leave for Europe because of the restrictions, and my visa here was expiring, we had a problem. My previous lawyer simply told me to eat the fines and that there would be no repercussions down t...

7-day MA looking quite good, deaths obviously lagging behind but should hopefully follow a similar trajectory. Seems like they are tightening up permisos even more in RM as well.

Re: Global Economy, recession, depression, or...
One thing is for sure, once the USD starts dropping there is nothing catching it. I would say the same for the stock-market but given that Fed prints as much monopoly money as they want I guess it might not drop nominally. Surely there will be Hollywood-movies made on this fiscal madness sometime in...

Re: Poll: Should one always trust their "gut feeling"?
I pick option number 3. Obviously this is not binary, and there are differences between claimed "facts". Through scientific iterations we move closer and closer towards a truth. That doesn't necessarily mean we will reach such a truth as it becomes exponentially more difficult to make progress the f...

Re: Civil Union, Family Visa, Fines?
Si excedes el tiempo de tu estadía en Chile, sin haber solicitado una visa temporaria, deberás pagar una multa. Si pagas esa multa no hay problemas con solicitar una visa temporaria después. El problema se genera cuando no pagas esa multa. I received this from my lawyer but I find it hard to believ...

Re: Civil Union, Family Visa, Fines?
I have already extended once. I talked to my immigration lawyer which told me it is not possible to do it another time?
The advice she has given me previously hasn't been exactly great which is why I always verify these things here as well.

Re: Civil Union, Family Visa, Fines?
Hi again! I am running up to the last month of my tourist-visa extension, and the registro civil does still not allow for bookings of civil unions. My girlfriend (Chilean) and I have been here since mid January and our plan was to finalize the civil union and apply for my temporary family visa. Cov...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
U.S reporting 15,000(!!!) new cases today. At least seems like they have started testing.
Almost 3x highest daily number in Italy.

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
There appears to be two distinct international protocols for dealing with the crisis. On one side, you have Italy, and other countries who have chosen the lockdown, perhaps thinking they can contain the virus for the 18 months it might take for a vaccine. China appears to be doing well with their l...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
More on topic, though, the numbers in Chile will multiply, as diseases spread exponentially. It's only a matter of time. Italy about to surpass China in active cases according to the worldometers statistics . A friend in Sweden recently picked up the virus on a trip to Spain. He seems to take it wi...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
My plan now is to simply drive from Santiago to the Argentinian border, turn around, and go back. My visa ends on April 6 and as far as I am aware of I have no alternatives to leaving the country in order to renew it at this point? At the Argentinian border, am I able to just turn around or do I ha...
