Re: Any push back?

A supermarket was looted in El Bosque, and a bus was torced in La Pincoya last night https://www.24horas.cl/nacional/turba-q ... ya-4185555

Really don't envy anyone living in the outskirts of Santiago right now.

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

57 arrests yesterday in the May Day protest in Plaza Baquedano, one of those arrested had tested positive for COVID and was breaking quarantine. These people seem to be determined to kill each other. https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/nacional/region-metropolitana/2020/05/01/detienen-a-57-manifesta...

Re: The new constitutional vote and the social crisis

Yesterday some "peaceful feminists" decided they wanted to burn down a church, unfortunately for them the attempt ended in a bit of a, let's say, a "friendly fire" incident. I believe this is what they call "karma". https://www.instagram.com/p/B9fxJldgRUB/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&fbcli...

Re: Corona Virus!

I find it amusing the stupid comments from chileans under the articles, and just in general talking to people. They really have no clue, and have not been paying attention to what is going on. let's see some of the gems, I have seen so far. you can cure it with paracetamol. They are requiring every...

Re: The new constitutional vote and the social crisis

That particular report ticked me off, so I sent this to the BBC, a news organization I used to respect. Not that they will take any notice... . Online output - Style, accuracy or grammar error.jpg The BBC usually does a good job giving a balanced, neutral take on UK domestic issues like Brexit, but...

Re: Introduction

On the subject of learning Spanish, the crisis in Venezuela has created a situation where online language teaching websites such as Italki have become flooded with Venezuelan Spanish teachers offering ridiculously low rates; its possible to get a 1-hour class for as little as $3.50/hr now. Granted, ...

Re: The new constitutional vote and the social crisis

Denying broadcast soccer to the people is a none-too-bright strategy and is not going to win many supporters in this country. Its Chile's football hooligans, the who are sabotaging the matches. Another Chilean stone best left unturned. I'm from England, a country that has historically had one of th...

Re: The new constitutional vote and the social crisis

The World Heritage Site "Iglesia de San Francisco" in Ancud has just been burnt to the ground, most likely intentionally. The "brave socialist warriors" really aren't doing themselves any favours if they think that burning down historic cultural monuments is going to win them votes in the coming ele...

Re: Chile Political and Social Crisis 2019

I've noticed a lot of suspicious activity on Chilean Expat groups on FB recently; in any discussion of the protests since they began, anyone critical of the protests immediately gets bombarded with angry replies from obviously fake profiles calling them "facho", "estupido gringo" etc, one one of the...

Re: ACTIVE CRISIS ZONES

There's a video on Youtube/Facebook of a mob in Parque Forestal yesterday surrounding a Carabinero, stealing his weapon and kicking him on the ground, it's a wonder he wasn't killed.
