Re: Pesos and Protests

Any stock that has dropped its price on the last days that you recommend looking into? I don't own any Chilean stock on my portfolio, but willing to buy if there's the opportunity. Admin, I was checking Concha y Toro on Google Finance, indeed it felt, but on 1 Sep it also achieved an all time price ...

Re: Housing market situation

If their debt is in dollars and their profit is in pesos, it might be harder to pay their debt with a weaker clp. Or if big funds have relevant % of this stock, selling one single stock at a loss is almost irrelevant to those big funds, and they are selling just because an algortihm says so, but sel...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

you know the biggest problem with all of this, no one is really in charge of the country. Like a bus, where all the passengers are trying to put one hand on the wheel of the bus at a time, and no one can really decide which way to turn. there is no real central authority of any kind, with full cont...

Re: Pesos and Protests

Despite we consumers and savers are all benefited by a strong peso (I certainly won't be sendind money home the next months), it's good to have currency adjustment margin at times of crisis. Remember thar one of the main accusations on the last european financial crisis was that the weakest countrie...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Given the lessening posting, Pirahna is not the only one shutting down... I have a bad feeling that tonight may be as bad as 18-O in shock value and I hope I'm wrong. I too am checking out for the next so many hours <hic>... :P It sure looked ugly at around 21pm in Providencia yesterday. After obse...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

He should consider resigning because the majority of people don't support him. If he moves the next election to fall 2020 (March or April maybe) that wouldn't create chaos. If anything I think it would calm things down a bit. No he shouldn't. Although it may appear that way sometimes, presidents ar...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

What should Pinera have done differently to have not made it worse as you see it? - avoid metaphors such as the pizzeria image - avoid and condone provocations such as those jokes his ministers have said (to take the subway at other hour and such) - as soon as the violence was out of control, make ...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Very much depends on the process and the participants involved.....it's a Chilean problem for Chileans to solve. Hopefully they can do it without much more hostility (not likely, I know.) I'm hoping for significant changes. I'm not too worried about a radical, violent socialist revolution. I don't ...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

I had one phone conversation with a family member based abroad and I got so incensed by the nonsense being said that I could feel my face heating up and blood pressure getting dangerously high. For the sake of my own health, I don't open links. Bet they insisted that you were in the wrong! At the v...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Everyone has their own conspiracy theory, but I have to say unfortunately my faith in chilean military and police force has been forever shaken. They're the only ones who don't stand to lose anything in all of this, no matter who comes out on top - the left of the right. Why would they shoot themse...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

While I surely believe the attacks on santiago metro are coordinated, i am not so sure who to blame. How can you believe there are venezuelans and cubans behind the metro attack when there are so many videos of police forces setting things on fire? Or do you believe these videos are not real? And do...
