Re: WARNING: Department of Immigration online web site

By the way, I should ask this while I have the chance.... has anyone here applied for (or even obtained) Chilean citizenship with the requirement for submitting a background check (cert de antecedentes) already in force? Are they rather strict or lenient when it comes to what documents they accept a...

Re: WARNING: Department of Immigration online web site

Let me put this another way. In all the years we have been doing this, we have never seen an "improvement" at the department of immigration that actually improved anything. 100% they have always made it more complicated and error prone. Sometimes that is by political design (e.g. requiring foreign ...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

I tried to count the line to enter the only HIPER LIDER in Valpo, last Saturday, around 13:30, and there was 267 people in line. This works very well: https://www.lider.cl/agenda/ Of course, I do use it. Showing the door guard the screenshot works perfectly, 5 seconds delay. No one else seems to us...

Re: Home insurance

I once bought home (contents) insurance with Itau. It was all by phone. This was a while ago (2014 I think). We had it for a few years and then cancelled it. I guess it was because I became more confident about the neighborhood.....since our house was new, I wasn't expecting to need it for repairs (...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

The silver lining is that the Chilean left is very divided and uncoordinated. See Recoleta's mayor Jadue, for example. He has recently spilled the beans that his party has plans to nationalize the AFP retirement accounts. I find it really hard to believe that he came up with that on his own, or tha...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

Another point is that while a vote for new Constitution may appear to be a blank Cheque, its pretty clear that the Left wing have already drafted their version. Having already come so far in successfully undermining the state, they would be silly not to have their next moves already prepared. So th...

Re: Movistar Made Me Laugh

In my neighborhood the only fiber optic cable choices are VTR or Movistar. For awhile now I have been considering changing from VTR (back) to Movistar as VTR's signal has had sporadic disappearing episodes (not OK when you work remotely), but it seems that we have an old debt with Movistar still han...

Re: Electric Vehicles News

Times I have run out of gas in Chile: 0 Times my local electricity has been out for more than 3 hours this year: Lost count. Times my electricity has been out for more than 8 hours: lost count, but at least once or twice a year. FYI, most of my outages have been city wide or regional. Everything fr...

Re: DO NOT BUY AIRLINE TICKETS TO CHILE!!!!

I have purchased tickets to the US from here that are round trip.......so obviously I am scheduled to return to Chile (October)......I have permanencia definitiva. I also just purchased travel insurance for said trip (due to a CyberDay promo ironically enough). I have read that currently at the air...
