Thank you admin, nwdiver, and donnybrook2 for your practical advice in how things are, which is why i looked for this site and came here. Re: Best Travel Health Insurance?

To be honest I have traveled a fair amount and I have never bought travel insurance. I assume you are from the US and if so most US health insurances should cover you down here if you have a catastrophic accident. You will have to pay then reimburse the expense when you get back to the states. That...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

The ISP has received the application for the import of Oxford-astrazenica vaccine: https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/nacional/chile/2021/01/07/isp-recibe-solicitud-para-importar-vacuna-fabricada-por-astrazeneca-y-la-universidad-de-oxford.shtml not sure why that has taken so long, considering phas...

well, mabie it is the coup in washington.
Considering our experience with Latin American history, we should know that doesn't deserve to be called a coup......if it were, it failed spectacularly.

Re: Copper up, USD down.

If I look on NASDAQ, I can see specific increases in copper price Jan 4th and 5th and specific strengthening in the peso vs the dollar Jan 4 and 5th. And if you pull up graphs of the Chilean peso vs the UK pound, euro, yen you see similar graph - i.e. it was the Chilean peso that strengthened on Ja...

Re: New mandatory quartine requirements for all travelers (developing)

Thanks Admin for the response. A friend of hers contacted the office in Santiago and they said she should have no problem. @DLPurser We contacted the Consulate in Chicago and they said it would take 4 -6 weeks to get the passport so my wife is just going to take the chance and return to Chile and r...

Re: Mandatory quarantine requirements for all travelers to Chile (UPDATED)

Seems this all came about, because another passenger arrived from Madrid with the UK covid-19 variant. And I'm guessing that said passenger was also a citizen or resident and not a tourist.........thus the lightbulb finally flickered on at a government desk and they decided that the virus doesn't d...

Re: WARNING: Chile shipping companies and door to door

Ouch, wow. If I ever move back to the US (or somewhere else), and actually consider a shipping company, I'll make sure to avoid that name.

Re: 6500 USD net a month

In my view it's a trickle but it's a consistent trickle that's going to go on and on and on for decades and add up to a lot. A lot of people will dither and talk about it but take years to really "pull the trigger". All the trends are aligned. 1. Santiago has too high a % of the country's populatio...

Re: Chilean border's to open to tourist, none-residents

OK, so I promised a report on how our re-entry into Chile went this time around! Remember, we are both Permanent Residents and the following only applies to P.R in good standing. So .....In Canada we had submitted our Sworn Affidavit forms (found at www.c19.cl and which asks for details of the PCR ...

Here is the orginal new york times article, not paywalled.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/15/us/c ... erved.html

chile has contracted vaccines for over 200% of the population.
Yup, with the understanding that some of the vaccines may turn out to be duds.

Re: Chilean border's to open to tourist, none-residents

My wife told me this morning that Santiago is being shut down again. She is wondering if she'll be able to get permission to pick me up at the airport when I arrive from the US on the 19th. She is driving from Chillan. Phase 2 to Phase 2 inter regional travel not within the few valid reasons, absol...
