Re: Constutional Congress Election

The country (very few countries are any different) is split and fractured and no one looks at their own actions or tries to be wise and virtuous , i.e having or showing high moral standards, and acting appropriately in society and with their fellow citizens, so until that happens this shit is going...

Re: Constutional Congress Election

Ive been thinking about this lately, and talking to people about this. As I mentioned yesterday when I was going on about the virus and why I dont hold out much hope for anything changing with the constitution process, and indeed it could make things worse. This is my theory and just my opinion, and...

Re: How to become fluent in Spanish

I am looking forward to reading what worked for you ;-) Being 17 when I learnt it, I know that doesn't help, but I have heard there is still a doorway open in the brain at that age that makes it easier. Apparently it gets harder as you get older. Watching programmes in Spanish and listening t...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Cases are higher than the peak in June last year in many places where people are having summer holidays. I know its easy to sit here with the benefit of hindsight (not that it is really hindsight) because admin and most of us said this would happen back in the Spring after seeing what was happening ...

I think they are setting themselves up for a major scandal with the Chinese vaccine, as most chileans will probably refuse it just out if old fashion racism, never mind the lack of verifiable scientific data.
Yup, that sounds about right.

Re: Copper up, USD down.

the chilean central bank is buying dollars, https://www.emol.com/noticias/Economia/2021/01/13/1009251/Dolar-programa-compra-divisar-BC.html Admin what should that tell us if the central bank is buying USD? A minute ago, the dollar was back up to 742. Quite a move in the last few days. Perhaps dolla...

Re: Mandatory quarantine requirements for all travelers to Chile (UPDATE 2, Jan 7th)

They may look the other way then charge US $65,000 x 9 = US $585,000 thank you very much... Yup, I was being facetious. Sorry, but I am kind of losing patience with people who seem to be wanting to carry on like normal after nearly a year of extreme disruption in everyone's lives . To those people ...

Re: Mandatory quarantine requirements for all travelers to Chile (UPDATE 2, Jan 7th)

The minister of health, besides placing large parts of southern chile's population under quartine level 1, has also decreed no more than 5 people per household in the entire country. I highly doubt they are planning on making an exception for hotels and lodges. But they bring in a few thousand doll...

Re: No zinc roofing in stores?

Apart from no materiales and lack of productd, any tramite you want to do now, will now take 10 times as long most likely, notaria, registro civil, banks etc have lines outside them that look like Eastern Europe in the communist years.

The national stock ended up being used for door and window protection rather than roofing.
Zinc and sheet steel protections are still being fitted.
Good point. And they will still need them for a long time to come yet🙄

Re: No zinc roofing in stores?

Recently, I was shopping for zinc roofing around the Villarrica-Pucon area. I was amazed that Eltit and Sodimac were completely out, save for a few odd pieces here and there. Imperial in Temuco has no stock. Anyone have any info on why this is so? Haven't seen any news on the internet about this. Y...
