Re: Climate changing in Chile

I'd like to tell you all a little about the story of Extinction Rebellion. Being polite doesn't work. Being annoying (preachy) does. Um , No it doesn't. What ? because they got half hearted commitments from the government that were nowhere near their real goals (2045 instead of 2025 demanded by ER,...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

I didn't realize you were an outright denier. (Or maybe I did, then forgot.) I won't debate (much) with people who are outright deniers of climate science any more although I may from time to time correct clearly false factual information but not interested in getting into long debates. The facts a...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

I agree that over population is an issue and it should be talked about more. Is it though? I'm going to look into that some more, but reports I've been reading recently are that population projections that are only a couple of years old are being completly revised and lowered as birth rates in many...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

...Combine that with underqualified local politicians and burrocrassy and a complete inability to plan and a Santiago centric govt its no surprise many regional towns and cities around Chile are clogged and under pressure with all their infrastructure. Plus some trickle down too. Here is a crass bu...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

Chilean towns have become more and more clogged due to the rural urban drift , not sure of exact percentages , so I won't make them up, but the ratio from the 70s to now in terms of rural dwellers vs urban dwellers has completely changed. The access to cheap and easy credit which didn't exist 15 ye...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

here an article on this very subject: https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-08-19/ever-fewer-wealthy-ever-more-poor-projected-equal-ever-more-demand I find the charts they use annoyingly over loaded with info, but interesting. One comment made right at the end of that complicated article gives an ide...

Re: Chile Wealth, Inequality, and International rankings

I suppose Chile should be happy with 1.75 percent growth for 1st 6 months of 2019. It's not 3.5 (cough cough cough was always bullshit and set people's expectations too high) nevertheless its better than a very very long list of countries at the moment. More cheap money anyone? Its 5am the parties w...

Re: Argentina Economy, Election, and possible default?

This why Argentina is the mother of all pyramid schemes, and inspite of the political window dressing, is one of the most 'real socialist' countries in the planet: Consider this: Out of Argentina’s population of 44 million, there are only 6.7 million private-sector employees and 2.3 million self-em...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

Is it though? I'm going to look into that some more, but reports I've been reading recently are that population projections that are only a couple of years old are being completly revised and lowered as birth rates in many countries, especially African, have fallen off a cliff in the last 10 years....

Re: Climate changing in Chile

I also had the insight, the square meter value of most of the places I store stuff, after a few years, costs more than the stuff in the storage. sort of defeats the purpose of saving most of it in the first place. This situation has always confused me too, especially considering how cheap stuff is ...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

And as for worrying about a dry year in Chile: The territory of Central Chile has been affected by long-term droughts in 1280–1450, 1570–1650 and 1770–1820 Not so much just a dry year , more a dry decade and indeed a dry century thus far , also pointing out the fact that they completely misread the...
