Re: Chile Wealth, Inequality, and International rankings

The actual numbers are different based on your lifestyle. I was actually crushing some numbers this week, as I wanted to see how expensive Portugal was when compared to Chile in order to get the same quality of life (spoilers: about 250€ more expensive per month) and I would be spending CLP $1.300.0...

Re: Chile's Place in Latin America

Bolsonaro won due to him running against the PT guy in the second run: he would've list in all other scenarios. I'll post a more detailed breakdown later today, as well as some notes about his plans for regional politics. So Bolsanaro is promising to the masses that he won't be accepting any sorts ...

Pun is a lot more common than you think! Almost every Condorito book has "TOME PIN, HAGA PUN!"
Curiously, pun also means fart in Brazilian Portuguese.

Re: Transferring money

You can also turn on two-step verification, so anyone trying to access it from a PC you haven't verified would need to also have your phone in hand.

The limit used to be $2900 per month while I was in Chile, but it seems it was increased. It still shows as $2900 in their FAQ, though.

Re: Transferring money

Transferwise has an official page with their CLP transfer policies, which you can access here. They are not FSCS insured, as can be checked here, although that should only be an issue in case Barclays crashes.

Re: chile's migration crisis

I could see lanuage making brazil a second choice for venezuelans, but portugies is not all that diffrent from spanish. I was there and in three days and was able to read the local news, watch local shows, get cab, order dinner, etc. Never had portugies lesson in my life. It is at least easier than...

(...) 850,000 in colombia. Brazil is probably similar to colombia or even more. (...) There are currently about 85000 Venezuelans living in Brazil, with 12000 having moved before the current immigration crisis. Although I like to bash on how full of bureaucracy and inneficiency the Brazilian govern...

Re: Temporary visa for financiers question

I'm also not saying that's not true. I just happen to haven't ever searched for sources in English about immigration to Portugal due to having access to lots of content in Portuguese. Maybe that's an Eastern European thing, I'm not sure. Did these posts reflect the recent changes in Portuguese immi...

Re: Life Insurance

To give you a scope of how bad these numbers are, that's a roughly USD $210000 policy with a $840 annual premium. Meanwhile, I'm 30 y/o and the insurance company I have a policy with would charge me $340 per year for that policy. And that's for an expat-tailored, premium policy from an A+ rated comp...
