Re: AFP: Opening the black box

Got it, thanks. I have decent enough Spanish and I was getting quite frustrated when researching about this, no one said anything directly about what exactly the reform is about. But it makes sense for me to not find much if it was meant to be opaque by design. I tend to treat government-mandated re...

Re: AFP: Opening the black box

Any thoughts on what's been proposed for the AFP reform? All I see are mentions of an extra 4% for the "pilar solidário", whatever that means, and I couldn't find a single source breaking it down in laymen terms.

Re: chile's migration crisis

I believe that most expats have some sort of policy against bad customer service, such as not returning to the store/restaurant or straight out walking out if they're not well served. It just happens that the passive-aggressiveness isn't as ingrained in other cultures as it is in Chileans, so immigr...

Re: chile's migration crisis

But Chilean (and Singaporean) citizens can apply for a separate H1B lottery. It's not like there isn't a way for her to get in. Gah!

Re: chile's migration crisis

My thoughts as well. I'm not happy that she lost her baby, and that's a terrible story. But it's not like she couldn't go after healthcare in Peru. This reminds me of a story I heard some time ago about asylum seekers in Europe that was showing them how many of them were actually trying to use it as...

Re: Chile Wealth, Inequality, and International rankings

I wonder if there are median figures as well. Averages usually tend to be pumped by ABC salaries. But 882k is not bad at all.

yea, the sympathy for the Venezuelans are running very thin in chile, even among the far left base.

To be fair, the Venezuelan woman who lost her baby was a third-country national outside of Chile's borders. Yes, her final destination was Chile, but that really isn't Chile's problem.

Re: chile's migration crisis

Nah, It would be a PR disaster to say that. The modus operandi is to leave a small stream go through to avoid being labeled as xenophobic.

I know there's a jazz club right next to Mall Plaza Egaña. Might be worth a shot

Re: Farm land.

$10,000 - $20,000 dollars is a reasonable per-person figure to cover living expenses for a year in Chile, depending on your lifestyle. So yeah, it isn't remotely close to being enough to start a farming business.

Re: Online Service Taxation

SII also seems to be chasing "influencers" due to possible tax evasion.
