Transferwise also works. I've sent a transfer from EUR to CLP recently and it went through without any hiccups or exchange rates sheenanigans.

While it may have higher expected returns, there's the important fact that it's not a liquid asset. This is something that should always be accounted for.

You're correct: our prices are for two adults. The executivos are commission salesmen. They work for the insurance companies and they get paid commissions when you sign up for a plan. Yep, VAT really shafts low-income earners. Although I'm Europe we have both that and high income & SS tax. That's one of the main reasons we're moving to Chile instead of elsewhere.

I'm currently paying 23% VAT in Portugal AND high income tax & social security tax. I'm OK with trading that for low income tax & lower VAT. :-)
