Re: Looking for freezer paper to wrap meat

I have been using the Great Value (Walmart) wax paper with decent results. Haven't seen it for months on the shelf at Lider after the state of emergency began. I've done the same, with decent enough results. Amazon is once again shipping all sorts of products internationally again, so I'll most lik...

Re: Opening A Bank Account

Have you tried a virtual one? MACH or the one from Santander (can't remember the name). Supposedly instant with no need to go to a bank to open an account. I have opened "digital accounts" with Mach and Check recently. BancoEstado also limits ou to $200.000 when making purchases online, which was a...

Re: Opening A Bank Account

Did anyone try to open an account after the pandemic began? I've started to issue "boletas de honorarios" recently, but since my income is higher than USD $2,350, I can't pay the goddamn 10.75% retenciones online. Webpay doesn't take my foreign cards, and the amount is over $200.000, so my Cuenta RU...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

Five AFPs are being sanctioned after sending notices to their clients informing them that withdrawing the funds is a terrible idea:

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

Here's a mail I received this am from AFP Cuprum. It seems that AFP Cuprum wasn't the only one that sent an email to it's clients. AFP Habitat sent a much more critic one and it seems that they'll be investigated for it. Whatever that means. https://m.cooperativa.cl/noticias/site/artic/20200709/pag...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

The only problem is the idiots running the AFPs I am sure are going to pick the absolute worse time to sell. Exactly. They have 10 days to process the withdrawal, which means you have no control over when the funds will be sold. Also, imagine the effect on fund prices for - say - 500,000 people sel...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

The AFP withdrawal law passed, some government congressmen voted for it: https://amp.24horas.cl/coronavirus/diputados-aprueban-historico-retiro-de-10-de-fondos-de-afp-4312095 There is a vague clause that claims that "employers and the government will contribute to make up for the funds withdrawn". A...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

So, the plot thickens: https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/nacional/chile/2020/07/08/amp/gobierno-amplia-ayuda-clase-media-horas-se-vote-retiro-del-10-las-afp.shtml The government has offered to improve their new support program targeted to the medium (and low) classes/income earners. The opposition...

Re: The Chile Economy, Social Crisis and Virus Impact

There's a vote going on in Congress today for a project that would allow people to withdraw 10% of their retirement/AFP savings: https://www.24horas.cl/coronavirus/diputados-revisan-y-votan-proyecto-que-permite-retirar-fondos-de-las-afp-4311786 The minimum withdrawal amount would be 35UF (roughly US...

55,000+ cases today in the United States

41,000+ in Brazil + 1 bolsonaro

yea, that is going well. I am sure it is just "little flue" that will "just go away".
The USA has 8-10 times more tests done than Brazil, though. The real numbers in Brazil will most likely never be known due to that.

Re: Permanenet Residency Processing

Interestingly enough, it seems that Extranjería has recently expanded the online process to also include nationals from these countries: https://www.cnnchile.com/pais/extranjeros-permiso-residencia-permanente-chile-online_20200706/ So even though I'm Brazilian, I'll be able to apply online in Septem...
