Re: How to become fluent in Spanish
necessity. Watch the local news on television. Try a construction project if available and you're brave. Encourage people to correct you. Add one idiom and one new word every morning with coffee. Peruvians speak a lovely spanish. Venezuelans as well and they can be helpful. Chat up the people at the...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
Re: idiots from santiago. My town has been inundated with a mob from santiago. The usual - noisey rude people who drive too fast. What they didn't count on was water. Hahaha. Well the joke's on all of us. There's not enough. Water has been cut off for minimum of 12 hours a day every day. All that ea...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
I'm going to take exception to that. It was a street dog, i.e. abandoned by some human. It attacked me from behind - just like they do in the movies of dog packs pulling down cows, horses, sheep, what have you. This kind of thing happens more often than some dog owners think. Joggers, bicyclers, kid...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
a couple of points re the vaccines... truly the Pfizer effort looks scary. Not even tested on animals and an entirely new approach which is now all of three months old? No thanks. Add to that the fact that the us .gov has given all these pharma f's complete immunity from any liability and I'm out. R...

Re: Chile Residency, Citizenship, tourism and Criminal records
Wow Admin. I just posted suggesting that people not try to leave if their permanent residency had not been approved or if approved had not been finalized. I'm sure that you know much more about it than I do, but still the fact is that the PDI would not let me leave the country when my residency had ...

Re: Got tired of EXTRANJERIA- help plz
Sorry to say I would definitely advise against trying to leave the country without papers in order. It's been a few years, but I was turned back at the Santiago airport by the PDI. My permanent residency had been approved, but I hadn't been able to finalize the paperwork due to estrangeros screw ups...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile
Greetings all. I'm not sure if this should be in the covid thread or the constitution thread - or maybe both but here goes. An anecdote: I live in region V on the coast. My area is now stage 4 and Santiago is mostly stage 3. I had assumed from recent announcements that travel weekdays between the tw...

Re: Building house in Chile the "gringo" way
To be fair - yes the huge majority of maestros who work on houses or small apartments are expletive deleted BUT, I have to say that the earthquake tech is impressive... starting with my place - one of the few things that got done right the first time was the triangulated corners which greatly streng...

Re: Building house in Chile the "gringo" way
Hahahahahahahahahaha I used to just call them the 86ers... which is the average world IQ or so I'm told. BTW, so far so good with maestro number ten after three weeks. I'm not giving out his phone number! Until the work is finished anyway.
