Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Interesting information Space Cat. To at46. Yes, I see that. Thank you. I hadn't thought that OZ was "gone" but truly their economy is more connected with China. Yes, I did read Tolstoy. Interesting to continue the parallel. Napoleon attacked Russia unprepared, just as he attacked Egypt unprepared. ...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

to at46. Yes it is a massive attack and I agree that it would be better if Mr. P stays on for a time. I'm just trying to get my mind around the totality. Bolsanaro in Brazil, palling up with Blackstone to burn the Amazon. Peru in chaos. Ecuador in a possible revolution to fight off the IMF. Election...

Re: There goes the neighborhood!!! Peru, Ecuador, etc.

What Moreno has now is a $4.2 billion loan from IMF which requires a really brutal austerity program plus another $6 billion in loans from various agencies...

Re: There goes the neighborhood!!! Peru, Ecuador, etc.

I went to Quito Cuenca Otavalo Guayaquil and the Gallapagoes. Every where I went there was construction, especially roads and bridges....

I get what's going on in ecuador, colombia, argentina, and brazil, but peru to me is a mystery. There seem to be frequent changes of president and lots of accusations of corruption with few asso...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

You guys are all so depressing in your attack mode "is it or isn't it." Can't we just agree to pick up the garbage? Chill? Be nicer to each other? Clean up your room?

Re: Health Insurance -

Atlanta - I dropped my US coverage - which was expensive, hard to use and had high deductibles, and got coverage here from BanMedica which is associated with Clinica Santa Maria. The cost was less than 15% of US (no dental but I have never in life had dental coverage) AND I had a pre-existing condit...

Re: Correos Chile is horrible!

to mem OK tell me, what are the unwritten rules???? It all seems very changeable. I used to receive packages every three of four weeks via Fedex with a declared value of less than $30. Mostly books. These packages would clear the aduana no problem. This year, EVERY package, regardless of value, has ...
