Re: Personal Income Tax Rates

I think you're overcomplicating. Tax rate is not at all difficult to calculate (and is indeed very low for workers), the SII calculate the "renta imponible" for you (money which is taxed) and then they also calculate how much you have to pay which for like 75% of workers is 0 or negative. Is calcula...

Re: First Chilean job offer

Yea, there is an increase in recent years in high-profile viliont crime in santiago, but also because it is relatively new chileans flip out about it. They also are notoriously clueless about personal safty, and how to adjust to it. For example, Dont hang out at bus stops at night in central santia...

Re: Investing in International Stock Markets from Chile

To be honest, I'm not sure where to check dividends but that's because the dashboard has over 40 sections. Maybe they're sending it in the email reports, they send a lot of newsletters by default (like daily and weekly market analysis). Anyway, the registration takes less than 5 minutes and it's in...

Re: Can you afford to live in Chile????

I got away with having saved less (around $12000 USD), but I also had some advantages........A. it was not my first time living in Chile, B I did not have a car, in fact I did not get one until last year, so essentially I got used to living at a lower quality of life.......not terrible, but not as ...

Re: Chilean stock market hits 3 year high, what the hell?

I dump an investment that does not returning more than 3% a month, let alone a year. I have better places to put my money, if there is not something like a 25% upside. You can open an apple cart on the street corner and do better. What the hell are these guys investing in? Can you make an index fun...

Re: Trump vs. Clinton 2016 U.S. election

Will people be walking into the polling booth in November and voting for a senator and a President on the same day? It's presumably allowed to choose a Democrat for one, and a Republican for the other? Is this common? Can anyone explain why the house might likely remain Republican, even if the Pres...

Re: Deposit a plazo and it's enermous taxes in Chile

I've never heard that, and I've been getting some king of CD since I was 16 (I'm 22 now). Most CD DO NOT PAY TAXES, specially in big banks like Chile-Santander, because they pay you less than the inflation rate. Just if u invest in UF you're going to pay taxes, but just for the difference between wh...
