Re: Criminal records required for residency, 2017

I wonder if you applied for permanent residency before May 1, like myself (8 months ago), if they will request the criminal background check at some point? Also, I wonder if you could get it done through the state police or sheriff rather than FBI. Last time I looked the process is 13 weeks.

Re: Criminal records required for residency, 2017

When researching what documentation I needed to gather for my permanencia definitiva on the extranjeria site, I came across this: Importante: Desde el 1° de mayo de 2019 es obligatorio la presentación del Certificado de Antecedentes Penales y/o Judiciales del país de origen para todas las nacionali...

Re: Housing market situation

Sale/rental prices all throughout santiago are getting ridiculous. In my building alone rental price for 23 m2 studios have gone from 180.000 to over >300.000 in 2 years. I was looking into buying something if my perm residency ever gets approved, but after seeing prices and knowing the type of qual...

Re: Mining exploration rights

Re: Getting a Chilean Driving License

To those who´ve done the driving license exam, how much of this 165 page instruction book do I need to study? Much of it is dedicated to explaining how a car works, physiology, driver responsibilities etc etc. to new inexperienced drivers. Or does the exam focus only on the rules of the road? http:...

Re: Venezuela crisis

But it is these "professionals" who probably had free uni that are lowering or capping the wages of young Chilean professionals in a city of ever rising costs that is Santiasco. So it is not only the Chilean lower class that is being affected by immigration but the middle sector also. With a govern...

Re: Uber in Chile

Don’t get why an Uber driver would try and scam you by driving round the block or whatever, isn’t the price fixed before you get in according to the route? Anyway, in Santiago at least since Uber I always try to take it- find the drivers way more professional in their manner and their driving far l...

Re: Uber in Chile

On Venezuelan/Columbian FB groups I see ads for Uber drivers all the time. Someone with a Chilean RUT buys a car and then rents it out to someone else to drive for Uber and other ride sharing companies paying a fixed monthly amount to the owner or the car. I see a lot of Venezuelans among the motor...

Re: 6 Months in Santiago

yea, generaly companies in chile don't like the hassel of getting the work permission sorted out when hiring someone on a tourust visa. in fact most don't know how to deal with it. get a visa with a work permit, and try again. Got to have a job offer to get a work permit, need a work contract to ge...

Re: Chile: second run

Welcome back, if you don't mind — what's up with Portugal? 4. Is the "octavo básico" still the fastest way to get a Chilean driver's license? Has anyone went through the process in the last year or so? If you have an apostille of your diploma, you don't need to pass the Octavo Básico exams. Otherwi...

I have never had a problem with correos chile, but I also do not use them for international shipping. Why did you not use FedEx?

Re: Looking for the best City for my Family

Thanks for all the comments. And I do have an investment business back in the states sending some additional income in USD. Speaking of, would it be difficult to have a monthly re-occurring transfer from my American bank account to a Chilean? I have read there are not capital controls like Argentin...
