Re: Help... Want to immigrate from south africa

Can you be more specific about the danger you feel your family is in? And also what kind of work (not sure what you mean about cash in transit) you, your husband, and siblings have done for employment or can do if you were to move?

...valpo has always been dangerious shit hole... v1.jpg The colonial city of Valparaíso presents an excellent example of late 19th-century urban and architectural development in Latin America. Re: Canadian citizen stabbed to death in Valpo

I have noticed some expat locals that live round these parts are getting more conscientious about where and what time they let their kids go and be. We are on the other side of chile from valpo in the south of course There is some FUD being circulated by chileans about it being immigrants responsibl...

Canadian citizen stabbed to death in Valpo

Only seeing it in a canadian paper. I cant seem to determine if he was actually a tourist or not...it says he was but then it says the family lives in santiago. I wonder if they assumed he was a tourist due to his citizenship. He was walking with family in a valpo tourist area. Stabbed to death for ...

Re: Coyhaique Most Polluted City in the Americas

Burning any type of wood produces smoke, even the 50-year-old ex-construction dessicated Pine that I sometimes burn in our Hergom stove. I haven't seen an unbiased comparison showing how much "cleaner" those pellets are. I haven't found a reliable study either but you can see it with your eyes: our...

Re: chile's migration crisis

It is easier to generalize across groups of people, but a more accurate reality is that there are good eggs and bad eggs in any group of similarly looking people groups (duh). I dislike the term xenophobia just as any other pejorative used to add a phobia as a suffix to some other generalized term a...

Re: Argentina power outage

Entire country grids do not go down on their own, unless the operators are so thoroughly incompetent they did not ever plan for that. I keep seeing the Argentina power company repeat that it was an "automatic" cut because the frequency of the lines were not in 50hz; like they had no say in it. It i...

Re: Coyhaique Most Polluted City in the Americas

I don't know if it's worse his year or I just forget about it each year, as I dont live in the toxic pit that is any urban area in southern Chile in fall/winter, so I dont have to deal with it. Seriously though it is foul and toxic the wood smoke in Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt this year. It seeps...

Re: Argentina power outage

someone finally called out cnn for the report being false in their comments: https://www.cnnchile.com/mundo/apagon-masivo-argentina-uruguay-brasil-chile_20190616/ If I didn't know better CNN may have somehow confused Argentina/south america with Trump (and I am not a trump-tard)....they surely don'...

Re: Argentina power outage

Just read another article saying Brazil was said to also be affected but when contacted Brazil said they were not affected. Probably a case of AR trying to deflect the bad PR and say other countries are affected when they actually aren't (other than uruguay or course)

Re: Argentina power outage

Right, I dont think Chile was affected. To explain how two countries like Argentina and Uruguay could both lose power...I think it boils down to: 1) Argentina crapped the bed...having s single grid for the whole country without being able to conpartmentalize failure. It was bound to happen if the el...
