Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Right it wasnt zillions. It's nothing to many expats. The interesting thing is the coincidence with the protests...and the announcements of tax hikes to 40% in those making more than 11k~ usd a month Or if it's part of some long term ml operation then its is one heck of a coincidence.. this is the f...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

oohh, I think Pinera just made a decision about where he wanted the light pole to be, when he gets hung. 40% tax on, people that make more than 8 million a month = he just decided to be hung from a light pole in los condes vs. plaza itialia. I want to see the details, but I am not sure he made anyo...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Drove into Pucon today to check on things. Apparently some rocks were thrown at unimarc and a big enough hole was made for a person to get through. Possibly some minor looting occurred, but they didn't get far with i guess some fruits and vegetable. 14 were arrested in connection. No sign of any iss...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Of course if there is some big dole (results be darned) it will make it appear as if all the looters and burning stuff "worked". The article is interesting by Tomas. However I'm trying to understand why 'its good" this is happening. Just that socialists will see that destroying stuff is counterprodu...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Any sign of the "national strike" getting traction in Santiago? Or just business as usual, commuters, etc?

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

I went back into pucon to see what's what. There are 4 gas stations. 2 Petrobras, a copec and a shell. 1 Petrobras is out of all gas and closed. All three other gas stations have crazy long lines of cars backed up out into the road...more of a queue than this morning. I really thought they would be ...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

And exit strategy as in liquidate everything you own and move permanently elsewhere? Or just going somewhere for a month or two with the expectation of coming back to chile presuming things will return to the status quo? I've considered the latter but its tricky when you are trying to keep your stuf...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

i don't know about shooting them unless directly threatening life; but a cattle prod, cranked all the way up, just to reinforce the idea. This shit would not have gotten to this point, had there been a few real, but lesser consequences (than death), long before this. you have a population that is c...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

Britkid: You are right on hundred per cent. Shile is a feudal country, no matter how many cell phones they have. No political leadership in sight which is a BIG problem. Note: you always emigrate into a foreign country. Get it? Feudal is going too far I would say just as if to say France or Hong Ko...

Re: State of emergency and curfews, October 2019

So, are you saying that your inanimate objects are more important than somebody’s life? Dont think that's a fair comparison. I agree things are not more valuable than people, but when bad actors invade someone else's home with at best an intent to steal if not worse other people should have a right...
