Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Many people are taking for granted that immunity will surely be the result after the first covid19 infection...but this is really tenuous. There is a big difference between Cholera or Typhoid or Polio...yup you get basically lifelong immunity and the vaccines are actually generally effective But wit...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

And yes, very concerning about the numbers in Temuco, especially as the air quality there is dire in the colder months. Temuco is a big city, well a tier2 city as cities go in Chile. It is also a gw airport into a lot of the south. A lot of tourists transit though temuco if they plan to go deeper i...

Re: Banco de Chile deposits through Servipag or ServiEstado? and related stuff

I also havent tried to drive the 2 hours to get there since they announced the temuco lockdown. I have physical cash stuff I need to do there soonish. I could put it off for another coup...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

I've been trying to figure out why Singapore and Taiwan have such low death and case rates when they were one of the earliest clusters outside of China. Yet even chile has far surpassed Taiwan. Why? This appears to be the answer. Mask wearing culture https://www.maskssavelives.org Perhaps the most i...

Re: The Day After

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6815659/ We estimated an average of 389 000 (uncertainty range 294 000-518 000) respiratory deaths were associated with influenza globally each year during the study period, corresponding to ~ 2% of all annual respiratory deaths. Of these, 67% were among...

Re: The Day After

For those keeping track...there were 18.5k killed in 18 months of 2009 h1n1. Whereas with this is 27k+ dead in 3-4 months depending on what is chosen for a starting date. The death rate is definitely going parabolic and unprecedented during the age of modern internet tracking coordination that cover...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Shocking that Chile is part of the 1000+ country club. Even passed Ecuador. But if bureaucratic minded automatons have a repetitive task to conduct like testing, this could be helpful for us in terms of rigorous identification of the scale for Chile. Hopefully not false postives/negatives As a side ...

As I'm walking out servipag is across the street and I kind you not the line stretched out of the building down the street and around...
