Re: Chile Political and Social Crisis 2019

I was going to reply about how terrible the quality of education and medicine would be under socialized medicine and education, but then I realized its not worth the effort. Sure, have a basic free level that sucks but at least dont remove the possibility to pay for quality and allow a free market t...

Really they are proposing to end free market, neoliberal capitalism rather than completely end capitalism.

End the free market, but not end capitalism? I'd say that whenever the free market is totally removed...whatever is left fundamentally cannot be capitalism to any degree.

Re: Chile Political and Social Crisis 2019

I think the salary is around 100-120K USD a year, maybe a bit more

So if there about 40 positions eliminated it averages out to 160k usd per year. Add to that a reduction in the salaries of those deputies and senators retained and ot seems to make sense with roughly 6.4sh million usd

Re: Chile Political and Social Crisis 2019

Re penalties for chaos. The con=gress here seems to be just a s witless - just as over paid and over bribed as the eeuu wankers. The really sad part is that Every chileno I've talked with in the last week or so - maybe 40 peeps all in - say that 1.) the justice system Must impose penalties on crimi...

Re: Chile Political and Social Crisis 2019

From abroad it seems like a lot of the disturbances are finally calming down a bit. Is that true? Are normal citizens exhausted by it all now? Also seems that around the country, people are getting into fist fights and such over "dance and you can pass", road barricades, protests at malls and citiz...

Re: Chile Political and Social Crisis 2019

You really think private property would get a pass in a Chilezuela situation? I have my doubts, isn't the land thing under "socialist" Allende the reason why the Mapuche became hardcore Pino supporters? Or maybe I'm incorrect. take away the private property aspect and its just straight up communism...

Re: Chile Political and Social Crisis 2019

Like I said before I have never met a poor socialist politician in Chile. They are all rich. Being a socialist is about politics and engagement, not your economic background. Not that I’m particularly convinced by any Chilean politician on the left, bar perhaps Beatriz Sanchez. It’s so polarised th...

Re: prorroga without certificado de permanencia definitiva

Seriously reconsider just coming to santiago for 1 day and flying back. The hassle of starting over with temporary residency in my mind is far more costly that a quick round trip to santiago from brazil

Re: The Economic Impact of the Social Crisis

Im trying to understand what the typical profile is of a family that would be getting this. I understand they have kids, but I am guessing they are not employed in the sense that at least one person in the family is getting a minimum wage right? Would this more likely be a family that is totally une...

Re: Yet another South African

This likely varies from country to country, but it seems to me that trying it from outside the country via a Chilean consulate takes longer in general and may possibly have a higher on average rejection rate than inside Chile applications handled directly by the intendencia. Also seems to be more mi...
