Re: Coyhaique Most Polluted City in the Americas

I don't know if it's worse his year or I just forget about it each year, as I dont live in the toxic pit that is any urban area in southern Chile in fall/winter, so I dont have to deal with it. Seriously though it is foul and toxic the wood smoke in Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt this year. It seeps...

Re: Argentina power outage

someone finally called out cnn for the report being false in their comments: https://www.cnnchile.com/mundo/apagon-masivo-argentina-uruguay-brasil-chile_20190616/ If I didn't know better CNN may have somehow confused Argentina/south america with Trump (and I am not a trump-tard)....they surely don'...

Re: Argentina power outage

Just read another article saying Brazil was said to also be affected but when contacted Brazil said they were not affected. Probably a case of AR trying to deflect the bad PR and say other countries are affected when they actually aren't (other than uruguay or course)

Re: Argentina power outage

Right, I dont think Chile was affected. To explain how two countries like Argentina and Uruguay could both lose power...I think it boils down to: 1) Argentina crapped the bed...having s single grid for the whole country without being able to conpartmentalize failure. It was bound to happen if the el...

Re: ATM fee

If you have have a Schwab checking account then the flat rate fees turn into $0 and it is essentially a cost/fee less transaction. But outside of that, I'll take the flat rate fees anyday and do larger amounts as long as they aren't futzing voodoo with the market exchange rate. Hi Mem. My wife and ...

Re: Farm land.

I havent heard of the 5 hectare rule. I have heard of the 1 hectare rule without a house where apparently the property tax is 0%.

So a more pointed question...is it true that there could be 1 hectare rural properties with no house somewhere in rural Chile with 0% property tax?

Re: inheritance how to transfer valevista money to usa

Yes, I think being here physically is the only reasonable way to deal with this assuming it is a significant inheritance Without knowing the scale of the pesos we are talking about it is difficult to know...I am assuming we are talking about at least 50 million CLP or several times more. So IMHO phy...

Is it all antique furniture that was made in Chile or is some or all of it made elsewhere and imported?
