Re: chile's migration crisis

Interesting list, but has it been cross-checked against visitation/tourism rates, drug-related murders, former citizens of said country (now US citizens) or their US-born descendants whacked while engaged in the local drug trade, etc.?

Yes ,chile does continue to amaze... Re the very high heels - yes they are very bad for the health and, IMO, not very comfortable... Re the carabineras - I actually admire them for being turned "impeccable" It makes me think they take pride in their work. Latam girls as well.... (although they can ...

Re: BCG Vaccine

While the underdeveloped countries are literally diluting the vaccine to 20% of its normal dosage in desperate attempts to protect their populations, the privileged are traveling to endemic areas without protection and risking bringing yellow fever back to the US. And it's interesting that 72 count...

Re: FATCA repeal introduced to the house of reps

Weeee that law is off the rails. Looks like they are angling to include bitcoin. They are also after bapnk records of any account in the world. Almost every major bank in the world has a correspindance account in the u.s. that would easily say put records of every account in chile in the hands of t...

yea, I did not really expect them to anything of substance on this.
Why would they, with S. 1241 now introduced? If we think FATCA and FBAR are bad, this one's much worse. Or so says everything I've seen. Count your change when traveling, to make sure you're under the $10K threshold.

Re: Buying tickets online with Avianca

My biggest gripe is the exorbitant amount of their change fees, and that on a 6-leg combination (round trip), no changes are allowed on 2,3,4&5--essentially holding 1 &6 hostage. Illustration: LAX to PMC, changing planes in LIM and SCL. Changes are only allowed from LAX to LIM and LIM to LAX. Soluti...

Re: Buying tickets online with Avianca

A VPN may solve this issue, if it is a simple matter of them rerouting it to a crappy local payment processor. A simple alternative is to purchase the ticket at an online ticket processor, although that comes with a small fee most of the time. OK, well it seems to be a combination of geolocating us...

Re: Has anyone used AFEX AV to transfer money abroad?

As I was thousands of miles away I was worried something would go wrong but I am happy to report everything went according to plan. I basical...
