Re: chile's migration crisis

......at any point I wanted to argue with anyone and for that reason I made a comment to your question that no one had the nerve to answer risking the personal labeling until an idiot came aboard accusing me of bullshitting and because my level of tolerance is very low I responded......totally reas...

Re: chile's migration crisis

Well, the extreme right is now reinforced with xenophobic votes. Meanwhile, Haitians aren't even being deported for crimes (see the table below). If you check the homicide statistics per country , Haiti (10.0) is as safe as Paraguay (9.3), Russia (10.8), and actually safer than "developed" Costa Ric...

Re: Coyhaique Most Polluted City in the Americas

Burning any type of wood produces smoke, even the 50-year-old ex-construction dessicated Pine that I sometimes burn in our Hergom stove. I haven't seen an unbiased comparison showing how much "cleaner" those pellets are. I haven't found a reliable study either but you can see it with your eyes: our...

Re: Coyhaique Most Polluted City in the Americas

AFAIK, there is some stove replacement subsidy at least in Valdivia. Haven't checked the stats this year but the graph of PM2.5 peaks in winter was sloooowly going down in the last few years which is good considering the population growth.

Re: Coyhaique Most Polluted City in the Americas

Anyway if you are thinking of moving to Chile, do not move to any urban area in southern Chile unless you dont mind bad air quality for half the year, a few kms out of town is normally fine, due to less houses. Valdivia has a separate rich island which is more sparsely populated than the central or...

Re: MOVING TO CHILE

I'm not even sure what that means, but as one of the last comments in this topic it did seem a buzz kill. There were multiple new accounts asking similar questions about Chile. Usually it means that a college/uni class got an assignment and some of them ended up raiding the same online community to...

Re: Chile Wealth, Inequality, and International rankings

According to the Global Peace Index 2019 , Chile is still the 27th most peaceful country on this planet (higher than Croatia and Poland) and, of course, #1 in LatAm. Meanwhile, the United States is #128 — between South Africa and Saudi Arabia. Only Colombia, Uruguay and Chile improved in South Ameri...

Re: Buying Gold/Silver Coins

Metals are a hedge against inflation, bank failure, negative interest rates, etc. Prices of precious metals are long term stable, making them an excellent store of value. Bonds still make money during the periods of negative interest rates because of the "capital appreciation": https://portfoliocha...

Re: The Pinera administration 2.0

The present Constitution was introduced by Pinochet in 1980. It has been amended several times since, notably by Ricardo Lagos, whose main aim seems to have been to get Pinocho's name off of it. You may recall Bachelet's failed attempt to produce another one, complete with tame Asamblea Constituyen...

Re: The Pinera administration 2.0

Like what specifically. Just name calling isn't an example. Incidentally, these "ideological" issues are just smokescreens. There are decent individuals within all the parties. But there are an awful lot of sinvergüenzas as well. And those are the ones that set the tone of parliamentary "democracy"...

Any specific examples of constitutional ass-wiping by the elites that caught your attention?
Any UDI or RN deputy or senator still supporting Pinochet or "Sí", JAK being the worst case.
