Re: New rules or the same old

Yeah I thought the same thing. I would think it would be like renewing a driver's license or passport. Show them the old one and get a new one but no this is Chile so we'll make it as difficult as possible..

Re: New rules or the same old

I renewed mine last year, and had to produce the original cert. If you dont have it, you need to get a copy. I've been trying for 8 months to get a copy and getting nowhere. Sent in all required docs requested by extranjeria, patiently waited for copy to arrive knowing they're busy with all the new...

Re: New rules or the same old

I am curious to know if beside the certificado de vigilancia did Registro Civil also require your original certificado de residencia permanencia definitiva? or just the PDI certificate only? No if you have your carnet, it show that you have "residencia permanencia". Because you have a run card and ...

Re: New rules or the same old

Last time I renew my id card, I only needed to get a "cetificado de vigencia", take a copy and go to Registro Civil, Yeah unfortunately like Paladin said you have to go the PDI office to get your certificate. I am curious to know if beside the certificado de vigilancia did Registro Civil also requi...

Re: Que hora son mi corazon, daylight savings time

Change your time tonight 1 hour forward tonight, and get ready for all the "expert" opinions on how you should "adapt to this" . Personally I would leave it as it is and not change for summer time, I prefer lighter mornings, does it really need to be light at 10pm in summer (instead of 9pm if they ...

Re: Passport and visa info

Since you have a return ticket to England during that 4 month period it's unlikely they would deny entry but if you are really concerned, better to do as at46 says and renew it in Santiago. If that's not convenient and you're going to be in Buenos Aires you could also renew it there. Chilean interna...

Re: Climate changing in Chile

Don’t forget that a lot of this “settled science” is coming from people who are highly dependent on research grants for their livelihood. As usual, follow the money. Carbon credits and climate research are a big business. .... It is the height of human hubris to proposition that humans can alter mi...

Re: Argentina Economy, Election, and possible default?

Assuming "who benefits from it" is a rhetorical question, one theory to consider is that in U.S. and other countries with large economies, after the corrupt politicians and institutions take their "share", enough money remains to maintain society whereas in smaller economies that is not true. Argent...

Re: electric vehicles in chile

Points taken. Thanks for the info. It sounds good in theory, I guess just not practical.....yet? http://large.stanford.edu/courses/2010/ph240/chen2/ I realize this alone doesn't address your other concerns about hydrogen but it's a start. Maybe some of the other drawbacks can also be mitigated in th...
