Re: Climate changing in Chile

Don’t forget that a lot of this “settled science” is coming from people who are highly dependent on research grants for their livelihood. As usual, follow the money. Carbon credits and climate research are a big business. .... It is the height of human hubris to proposition that humans can alter mi...

Re: Argentina Economy, Election, and possible default?

Assuming "who benefits from it" is a rhetorical question, one theory to consider is that in U.S. and other countries with large economies, after the corrupt politicians and institutions take their "share", enough money remains to maintain society whereas in smaller economies that is not true. Argent...

Re: electric vehicles in chile

Points taken. Thanks for the info. It sounds good in theory, I guess just not practical.....yet? http://large.stanford.edu/courses/2010/ph240/chen2/ I realize this alone doesn't address your other concerns about hydrogen but it's a start. Maybe some of the other drawbacks can also be mitigated in th...

Re: Gastro Medical Help For Friend in Chile With Fonasa

Sorry for your loss Charles. I've had two best friends pass recently, it's hard to lose close friends.
Any recommendations for a provider of private insurance in Chile?

Re: lost certificado de permanencia definitiva

When I got my first cedula at the Registro Civil, the nice lady there told me "don't ever lose your certificado de permanencia definitiva". I should have listened to her advice. Actually I didn't really lose it. I know where it is. I had forgotten that I put in a "secret" compartment in my camioneta...

Re: lost certificado de permanencia definitiva

Does "permanencia definitiva" expire? Or is it just your "Cédula de Identidad" that's expiring? I'm asking, because my ID expires later this year. And I thought it was just my ID that expired, and not my permanent residency. Thanks. I don't believe permanencia definitiva expires but you need the ce...

Re: lost certificado de permanencia definitiva

My wife lost hers and we applied and five months after they sent a letter saying there was something missing and we had to reapply and start all over again. It was a major nightmare. Sorry, I'm sure it will work out fine for you. Even though, in her case it would have been easier for her to just le...

lost certificado de permanencia definitiva

My carnet expires this year and in the process of looking for the necessary documents to renew it, I couldn't find my original certificado de permanencia definitiva. Anticipating that it would take awhile to replace, I filled in an application for replacement 6 months ago. Apparently you can only do...

Re: Getting PDI Certificate from different city.

I have gone to at least four different PDI offices, walked right in and received what I need no questions asked.
One of the best places to do it is at a border crossing. No wait at all.

This was all done in Region X, your mileage vary in the north of Chile.
