Under perment residency, you need to be in chile at least 1 day year.
does the past year with covid and closed borders not count as special circumstances?

Re: how long outside of Chile without losing residencia

Is the above still correct? I.e if I come back say every 6 to 8 months for a few weeks then I will not loose my permanent residency status? Never got around to doing the whole citizenship part. that should do it. still the same. 1 day a year, or request an extension at a chilean consulate each year.

and the back peddling and excuses have already started in regards to "herd immunity" and how many people may need to be vaccinated, will there be a third shot required, etc. https://www.emol.com/noticias/Nacional/2021/06/12/1023657/inmunidad-rebano-vacunar-100-poblacion.html now, in fairness, we all...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

meanwhile, over the hump, Argentina seems to be averaging a pretty steady 30,000 cases a day, and 700 deaths a day. They surpassed the united states for deaths per million, with over 84,000 deaths. https://www.batimes.com.ar/news/argentina/government-extends-covid-restrictions-as-death-toll-tops-840...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

my guesstimate right now is the government has between 2 to 4 weeks for a dramatic drop in cases to appear, or there is going to be some very serious questions about the handling of the vaccine program. we are crossing the 60% fully vaccinated line, should be 70%+ by next week. add say 14 days to in...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

Our town in the past has been way quieter in phase 1 because many of the stores and businesses are closed. Easily way under half the people of phase 2 or pre COVID situation. I think the quarantine was probably the right decision. It may have to be the last one, however. went to town yesterday, we ...

Re: coronavirus (COVID-19) in Chile

so the world has already passed all OFFICIAL deaths from covid in 2020, so far in 2021. 1,8 million deaths, but I am not buying that number as even close to reality. Latin America alone is well north of 1 million. India has probably clocked that by itself. I definitely don't buy the 2020 number with...
