Re: Venezuela crisis

I don't know what you were thinking, but those pictures are just not turning me on, sorry :) But to each his own, so don't mind me... I'll think long and hard over your point of the Venezuelan gold impounded by the UK Central Bank in order to help the Venezuelan people. Um, I just did. And my conclu...

Re: Venezuela crisis

So those three million would be half of the six million Columbians who moved into Venezuela previously to enjoy the socialistic paradise. The game of big numbers out of context... :) Sez you. Got some source to back that statement up? Why didn't these alleged Colombians just move back to Colombia t...

Re: Venezuela crisis

From a Russian source :) When the blitzkrieg petered out, when it became clear that the people of Venezuela had their own pride and a feeling of national dignity, when they became obviously insulted by a situation when, speaking from abroad, US Vice President Mike Pence noted that he was appointing...

Re: Venezuela crisis

Russian foreign minister Lavrov on Venezuela: I am convinced that Washington does not yet completely understand that its line regarding Venezuela has become deadlocked. They believed that the people of Venezuela would rebel against the incumbent government from the very outset, that they would be di...

Re: electric vehicles in chile

at46, Old petrol/diesel cars can also be converted to electric cars. It's not cheap or easy though but you might make back the conversion cost eventually from the cheaper cost of electricity per mile vs petrol/diesel (if you do enough miles). This is something I'd like to see governments subsidizin...

Re: Argentina Economy, Election, and possible default?

the ponzi scheme or argentinean shuffle works like this. s.s. argentina hits another iceberg realizing the ship is sinking, they get a loan from the imf, and convince them it is best spent to stabilize the peso. foriegn investors and rich argentinans exit the titanic on the IMF lifeboats by buying ...

Re: electric vehicles in chile

LPG: Oil changes/wear and tear is not going to make much difference to the CO2 numbers. You have got to face facts, electric cars are clearly superior to LPG for global warming. I don't know if anybody has ever done an in-depth and honest analysis of the actual cost of electric cars and their CO2 e...

Re: Argentina Economy, Election, and possible default?

this article has a more detailed list of the price freezes, and most of them are not good: http://www.batimes.com.ar/news/argentina/government-unveils-raft-of-measures-to-tackle-rising-inflation.phtml seems they are all pretty much designed to get macri reelected, using public funds, and little els...

Re: electric vehicles in chile

Ending oil takes power away from the Middle East and Russia. Not necessarily a bad thing given some of their governments. I am concerned about China but I don't see that the EV trend puts that much power to China. It's not about ending oil necessarily. Jet fuel will probably always come from oil, a...
