Re: electric vehicles in chile

If we really want to talk other countries though, why not mention the US and UK where some of us are from. In these countries, and many others, it's easy to arrange a 100% renewable electricity supply to your home ... I live in the US and am not aware of this. From what I read, the UK now gets abou...

Re: electric vehicles in chile

Then there is this tesla charger in Austria powered by a diesel generator. This shows the challenges placed on the electric grid by electric vehicles. tesla generator.jpg The electric grid is now at full capacity. Electric cars require new capacity. The only way to grow capacity is by new coal fired...

Re: electric vehicles in chile

It is clear that manufacturing of any type of car is a small proportion of total lifetime CO2, the majority is in driving. Wrong. The figures are comparable. The manufacturing of a Tesla 3 battery pack emits about 15 tons of CO2. Averaged over the life of the vehicle this is about 80 grams per kilo...

Re: electric vehicles in chile

... You have got to face facts, electric cars are clearly superior to LPG for global warming. Electric cars are primarily a tool used by rich liberals to signal their environmental virtue. They don't actually help the environment. First, most of the power for electric cars comes from burning coal. ...

The senate just approved "Ley Transformación Digital del Estado".

All "tramites" go digital, no more paper exchange between government institutions or paper certificate requests from citizens.
Hah! There will be paperless bathrooms before there is a paperless government. Never happen.

Re: Chile Wealth, Inequality, and International rankings

I think the US education scandal highlights the fact that there's a lot of dirt that can be dug up and used against the 'elites' in order to make them 'toe the party line' or at least not to sabotage Trump's re-election. We all know this would have never come out under the Clintons :) I agree. This...

Re: HELP!!! identify this snake

Thanks for opportunity to learn something. You natives no doubt already know this and more. According to what I read, there are only two snakes in Chile. The long tailed and the short tailed. The long tailed is not found south of Valdivia. The short tailed is found as far south as Chiloe. It eats am...

Re: Venezuela crisis

Brazil oil exports went up by about 500 thousand barrels per day in 2018 - about the same amount as the drop in Venezuelan oil exports over the period. Venezuelan oil is being sold as Brazilian, at a huge discount, making a lot of money for a lot of people. This seems unlikely to me. Maybe you coul...

Re: Porotos, and their photos...

Part of the issue is probably quality control.
In the US there are machines that sort out all the funny looking produce. Only the perfect stuff makes it to the store.

The weird looking peanuts probably get turned into peanut butter.

Re: electric vehicles in chile

Well, they tried to get the guy out of the car, but there were no door handles, coz it's a Tesla. It doesn't just make you into a tree-hugger, it makes you into a tree-hugging shish-ke-bob. Come on. You are stretching to find something to complain about with the Tesla. The statistics on deaths per ...
