Re: Getting a Chilean Driving License

Thank you AT46, Britkid, Scandinavian and Frozen North, your comments regarding the color vision tests have been helpful to me. It seems, oddly enough, that the tests may vary considerably. I had a friend who recently took the exam, and I asked him to pay attention to the test, specifically for colo...

Re: Getting a Chilean Driving License

After that I had to move an object with a pencil in the end to follow a certain line or shape testing I have a steady hand and then some optical tests of looking through an eye piece into a thing that was like a telescope or binoculars with some letters in it. It was like a mini version of going to...

Re: Buying a car for 12mil without a bank account

Purchased a new Mahindra pickup truck 3 years ago , with credit card. Prepaid the balance, and collected the frequent flyer miles. Outside of being a little hard riding, I've had no problems. Holds up well in El Campo.

Re: Chile Residency, Citizenship, tourism and Criminal records

There are all sorts of FBI " channelers" on the internet that say it can take as little as 72 hours. Also private companies to process apostilles. It seems to me if it is important these things can be expedited. Also my understanding of the FBI background check shows all ARREST records, not just con...

Re: Third party apostille services in the US

It took me several trips to the Department of State in New York to get a document apostille. After obtaining the notary stamp on my document, I had to go to the county clerks office in the county that the notary was licensed, and get a document stating that the notary' s license was current. The fir...

Bringing archery equipment to Chile.

I was considering bringing my recurve bow with me to Chile. Has anyone had any experience in bringing a bow to Chile. Are the considered a restricted item? What about arrows? Field points, broadheads?

Re: What is required for CHILE to recognize legal documents?

The Chilean consulates had notarios on staff to officialize documents which originated outside Chile. I believe that it is no longer necessary to have them notarize documents as they are now party to the Hague convention. Your apostille should be all you need. At any rate a phone call to the Chilean...

Smoking meats in Patagonia

I built myself an ugly drum smoker and it has been getting lots of use down here. I have been able to find supplies of alder, apple and cherry wood, but I am curious if anyone has tried native woods (coyhue, lenga or any others) for smoking meats. What meats are you smoking, and what woods are you us...

Re: German sausages in Santiago

I searched most of the cities in the south and never was able to find a german butcher shop, let alone bratwurst. My solution was to purchase a good quality sausage stuffer and make my own. Now once a month or so I purchase a whole "paleta" (pork shoulder) when the carneceria has cerdo. I have them ...

Re: Foreigners without residency, can not leave with Chilean car

Thats a pretty strong policy for a country that cant connect the north and south by road. I guess going from Coyhaique to Punta Arenas is out of the question.

Re: Coyhaique Most Polluted City in the Americas

I dont have any problem with the statistic quoted by WHO, but in all likelyhood the air quality was sampled in the winter. The air quality is horrendous in Coyhaique in the heating season. The cause of the pollution is not automobiles, or coal plants, but the habit of burning leña verde. You cant ev...

Re: The Chile Eclipses Thread

The weather cooperated in Aysen. Clear skies and full eclipse. Fresh homemade italian sausages on the pancho washed down with Carmen Gran Reserva. A truly great day in Patagonia! :D
