Re: My worst case scenario

Thanks for all of the info and advice, everyone. I have my ticket booked for Tuesday. That will give us 2 days to sort things out. We'll be sharing a seat and he's a gigantic 16 month old. I'll be sure to ask about getting two seats. I'm getting very nervous just thinking about it, but we'll be okay...

We're in La Florida (close enough to Ñuñoa). Final destination is Atlanta, and our friend has miles with Delta. Thanks!

Re: My worst case scenario

We have all of that except the notarized permiso. Does that need to be translated in English and Español? Is it so common that most notaries will know how to do it pretty easily? Any suggestions for notaries in the Santiago area who can get things done on a Saturday? My wife lacks faith that anythin...

My worst case scenario

I was informed last night that my father is in the hospital in the states. My family had been holding out on me for fear of worrying me. His Kidneys are shutting down and he can barely breathe. He told me that he just wants to hold his grandson and his son (me) with what little breath he could gathe...

Re: cost of temp residence visa app if married to chilean

It was free for me because I am a citizen of the United States. I just went through a similar situation. I was looking at a chart of fees for temporary residency visas for residents of other countries: http://www.extranjeria.gov.cl/ingles/filesapp/TABLA_DE_ARANCELES_ABRIL_2008.pdf. It looks like $10...

Re: Renewing your tourist visa, after filing for temporary v

I received my En Tramite papers about a month and a half after sending it. Apparently it had been delivered to the wrong address, so a neighbor saw the name and address and brought it to me about two weeks ago. It said what I sent was received. By the time I got online and checked my status, it said...

Re: Renewing Tourist Visa

All BS, I paid both fees. The Chile one for US citizens and the one for my wife's US tourist visa app (which was turned down). Reciprocity my ass. Same here. Then I paid for my wife's immigrant visa, which we're still waiting on. Around the end of my last six month stay here, I decided to just appl...

Re: Shipping an external hard drive from the USA

Thanks everyone. Sri, that's helpful for future reference, but it is already on its way to my mom's house in the states. I'm trying my best to have it shipped here like I've had things shipped before and not have to deal with paying any fees at all. I've had things shipped in the past from my famil...
