Re: Spanish is hard

Or... you are speaking correctly but the person you are speaking to is not accustomed to hearing the entire word. In this area, everyone says "tuto" very fast, no drawn out "u" when they refer to 'trutro'. Ask for a trutro and you're SOL. Might as well be speaking Klingon.  IMHO you are ...

That's pretty bad luck. I believe EBay has some buyer's protection scheme though, which ought to cover items not being as described?
Yes but it has limitations.

Re: Looking for help to resolve difficult cell phone problem

I couldn't talk someone there who is a fluent Spanish speaker into calling Movistar with the IMEI numbers and see if some sort of contact could be generated? I know this is asking a lot of someone but I'm at my wits end with this thing. I'm out $500 and having to find phones for the kids before Chr...

Re: Spanish is hard

Poor vocalization, that can be resolved with someone that has better pronunciation than the majority. You are picking up bad verbal habits.

Re: Spanish is hard

For those who don't know, David_Bro is a very long termer though currently not resident at present (lived/witnessed Allende-Pino and aftermath) and his wisdom and advice should be respected. He predates PX here on the forum and was in fact essentially a "founder" under a different avatar. Basta! yo...

My solution was to buy a phone at my destination. I now have a UK phone, a USA phone and a Chile phone!
That's exactly what I intend to do when I go back again and since I'll be having the same itinerary I was wondering if there's a cell phone store at the Miami airport. Need to look into it.

Re: Looking for help to resolve difficult cell phone problem

Last year when I visited the US I ordered a Samsung Galaxy5 unlocked in Ebay and received in NJ.......(I know, I know...old technology) and it worked here in Chile just fine (still have it). Yep, I paid about $60 bucks. Makes calls, sends messages, and WSP. Nothing fancy but does the job intended fo...

Re: Looking for help to resolve difficult cell phone problem

So here is my question/request: 1. Does anyone have an email contact or way to get in touch in writing with Telefonica Movistar Chile technical support services? 2. Can you refer me to anyone in country who might be able to assist me in this matter? This is a very interesting site. I got a little c...

Re: Spanish is hard

The national sport of Chile is not soccer. It is theft. Unfortunately so true! And I may add.....at all levels... that's what bothers me. Last year I went to see the family in US. My itinerary was Valdivia-Santiago-Miami-Philadelphia. In my way to Miami, I sat next to a Chilean couple going to that...
