Re: Zero Visibility

The landing system you are thinking of is the ILS (instrument landing system). Its a series of radio stations emitting signals that the plane uses to determine exactly where it is in respect to the runway. Its used in addition to VFR landings. La Serena is another airport that I've seen "socked in" ...

Re: chile's migration crisis

With about 16 million Chileans any mass migration in Chile is going to have an effect that the engineers will be insulated from. And I had always thought Chile was better organized with its immigration. Then again with Bachelet and Penera the revolving presidents who represent who?

Re: The Obama Administration

A community organizer who preached to the uninformed, misinformed folks who by their very nature look for something for nothing was Ill equipped to do much of anything substantial for our country. His style of governance is to appoint liberal leaning people to do their best with little oversight. Th...

Re: Best airline to fly to US

Just purchased round trip tickets for the family on aeromexico from Orlando to Santiago with a short stop in Mexico City for $606.us. Seems like the cheapest I found in years. As to quality..I'll post that also after the trip. I have flown most of the carriers to Chile and found Delta the most consi...

Re: Don't leave your Napoleon behind

My studio was burgerized last month and the thief stoled most everything along with what he thought was a napoleon or bolt cutter but it was a swedging tool that looks just like it except the jaw crimps and doesn't cut. He was caught from the fingerprints on it and got jail time , but usually they u...

Re: Construction material cost in Chile and what is available

Charles is the use of pnuematic nailers common in Chile? I was thinking of bringing mine when I start the cabin but then getting the right nails for it might be a problem, might be better to pick one up there with availability being the key. I'll have plenty of room in the container. Yeh I know abou...

Re: Chile and the International Economic Crisis

Copper is heading up again and most of the suppliers I deal with have run through their inventory that was bought at twice the price. I paid 34% less last week as I did a month before as the new inventory is being restocked at the new lower price but they also warned buy now as its moving up again. ...

Re: lan chile

Just booked tickets for my inlaws coming from Santiago to Miami through Taca airlines for $1142 rt. I used to go Delta and never really had any problems but do fly Lan because my wife wants the miles. Taca makes a few stops and the inlaws seem to think its exciting to make a few stops in different c...

Re: Flight from US to Chile... What's With the Taxes?!

Maybe I'm lucky but I have flown TAM several times and they have good equipment ,but you are right there ground crew were clueless. Most of my flights were between Miami and EZE and can't think of any issues that I have with them.

Vicki, I did watch the video. Remarkable that they made it out alive. No reports as to cause and it was a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan which is a workhorse for FedX also, very reliable.

Re: Patagonia Plane found 9/10 alive

Does anyone know why they crashed. It sounds like the terrain was forested and mountainous which makes for few open area's to put a plane down. They must of had good advise from what is said of the pilot to live in the freezing temps and to make the right decisions to ultametly be rescued. Charles y...

Re: US citizen deported for working illegally

Charles your right on point. The sevice in most places is dismal at best and are being trained by people that don't know what good service is. I have a friend that just returned from southern Chile flyfishing and he loved the country the food the scenery but said the help at both the tours that he t...
