Re: Chile creates 10 million Acres park, including Thompkins land

Actually, I agree that's probably the reasoning. I saw a similar story on the tele last year for a hill on the outskirts of Vina del Mar. It's still pretty said that large areas of natural wilderness are just fenced off, though.

Re: Chile creates 10 million Acres park, including Thompkins land

Agree with most of those last comments. You can be standing on a Santiago street, and an hour walk later in the middle of a mountain forest, and there is no-one there. (Only the hills in centro and Providencia, that are actually inside the city, get a lot of people.) Unfortunately, even though there...

Re: Chile creates 10 million Acres park, including Thompkins land

The constant fencing off of natural areas - or use of opening hours for things like forests is constantly irritating. I see this a lot in norte chico and central Chile. The drive from Coquimbo to Santiago is mostly just wildnerness/natural areas - why is it fenced off so you can't stop and walk in i...

Re: Paying The Bills

Webpay with foreign cards is a disaster. I sometimes got it to work after trying 3 or 4 different cards.

Re: Paying The Bills

So 7 minutes vs. living life getting reamed? Not even a borderline logical choice question. 7 minutes is pretty good. I'd say mine is more like 30 minutes a month. Still, I think 30 minutes a month is low enough where's it not worth spending time trying to reduce it. OK, probably not worth auto pay...

Re: Paying The Bills

There was this one time a few years ago...I can't remember if I moaned about it on here at the time...I had car and home insurance with Falabella. I bought a 1-year policy with them for both and paid with credit card. After 8 months or so we moved house. I called them up and asked them if the home i...

Re: Paying The Bills

It strikes me that cancelling these auto payments (or trying to) might be a pain if you have to leave the country, especially if it is unexpected (e.g. sudden job offer) and you need to go fast and cancel it all at the last minute. I suppose if you were leaving and burning all bridges and closing do...

Re: Paying The Bills

Specific routing (what I click and in what order) to pay certain things in Banco Estado (I have Cuenta RUT): Create a file with all this written down otherwise before I did that I could hardly navigate through all the different options. If you only have a few bills or you have consolidated them, th...

Paying The Bills

This is intended mostly for people who are coming to Chile soon or just arrived in the last few months. General Tips: 1. Before getting a bank account, pay bills in person at a Servipag/Sencillito (generic pay point found in/near shops and supermarkets). Take cash incase they don’t accept card or it...
