Re: Hunting Sasquatch

Does anyone know where to buy orange oil? Or what it might be called here?

Re: temperature 32 Celcius (in the shade?)

I've bought outdoor thermometers in the garden center section at Sodimac before. I bought my first one at the Sodimac Homecenter on Av. Las Condes. I bought the other one in La Reina at the Sodimac on Jose Arrieta and Pres. Alessandri.

Re: The Pursuit of Happiness- Can Hope be Found In Chile?

FWIW, we had family fly down for a visit in August 2013. No one gave them any hassle about their one-way tickets from the US. They got their one-way tickets with air miles. Don't know if that made a difference.

Re: Halloween Pumpkins

Okay, I can see buying a pumpkin or two for carving, but why would you buy extra to chop up and freeze?! My mom makes pumpkin pie with the ordinary zapallo all the time.

Re: Visa and Work question

He was originally under a work contract with his visa tied to that job. Not under a professional visa.

I'm going to tell him to go for the professional visa. It seems like the better deal in the long run.

Visa and Work question

I think I've read every thread with the word "visa" in it, and I'm still not sure what to tell my friend. He had a subject-to-work-contract visa for 15 months. The job ended the last of September. He just received a job offer. If his long term goal is permanent residency: Did his "countdown timer" j...

Re: weather....and other silly questions

Yeah, we arrived in Santiago in just after the summer solstice. I was feeling uncomfortably warm in my tee-shirts and shorts as we walked along. We started keeping a tally of the number of long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, parkas (what?!), etc. being worn by the locals around us. Do yourself a favor, d...

Re: Bitten by Brown Recluse

I realize this is about spider bites, and may not be relevant, but we had a cat bitten by a copperhead (snake) near an eye. Her head swelled up so bad, the vet didn't think Ms. Kitty would live through the night. Now my aunt swears by echinacea for boosting the immune system. She takes a drop of ech...

Never really took to one one or two news sources. I always figured that anyone sloppy enough to take the news seriously without checking different sources deserves to be fooled.

Re: Are Hawks protected in Chile?

Some hawks were playing "drop the rat" from a light pole on our street a few days ago. Clumsy? Or softening the rat up?

Crud. Reading this thread is not making me happy. I was hoping it was just ME feeling antsy lately. I'm going to go inventory my SHTF kit.

Re: Looking for a House to Rent

Have you considered a condominio in Penalolen? We're in a 4 bed 3 bath for $350. I know of several other houses available in our area.
