Interesting article! No doubt California is a state of haves and have-nots (the legacy of almost 50 years of neoliberal economics). However, Hanson's simplistic cause and effect analysis is seriously lacking. BTW, I've always wondered why anyone would voluntarily live in Bakersfield or Fresno. Moreover, Hanson's moral character judgement is clearly suspect.
