Yep, what he said! I just learned the hard way. My wallet was pick pocketed a while ago with my Aussie driver's license. I managed to get the dept of transport in my birth country to send me a document that states that I've held a legal driver's license for x years. It helps zero, as it had to be legalised at the Chilean consulate in South Africa first, as it is not recognised here by local authorities and they won't even look at it. So back to square one and taking taxis everywhere!
