Belated Congrats

Postby Vicki and Greg Lansen on Sun Sep 09, 2007 5:37 pm

To Charles, El P., Tom and all the "old timers" I want to say thank you for the Chile Forum. Between this forum and the allsouthernchile.com website, we found everything we needed to make the trip to Chile (twice), have a wonderful time, rent a cabin, travel, buy property, make friends, decide where to go....Now we are looking forward to making a permanent move. SOON. Like in October 2007.

And so, Salud! I hoist a perspiring can of Cerveza Panama (being in Panama and not having access to my FAVORITE Chile beer CRISTAL -CHARLES IS WINCING RIGHT NOW) and wish everyone well in their adventures.

Leap, and a net will appear!

We will see what we can do about fixing your taste for Cristal beer.

yea, I was thinking earlier about calling that 4,000 posts, but I thought that would look a little desperate. Glad you called it though. I never did the one month post math however. That would mean we have more posts in the last month, than like our first 6-8 months online.

If we keep it up, that would also mean we are on track to have something like 12,000+ posts by this time next year. That would more less seal the deal as the largest website about Chile on the internet.

Thanks, Charles. I am appreciative of the new addition of the currency conversions. Excellent and appropriate addition.

5000+ posts

Postby mlightheart on Thu Oct 25, 2007 1:21 am

When I came on I saw that there were 4999 posts, and now there are over 5000 posts! No, I didn't post to be the 5000th post, but it was kind of tempting. We are doing a pretty good clip here, in less than a month we have had 1000 posts.

Yea, it is vicious circle. The more you guys posts, the more traffic and users we get, which leads to more posts.

I see a slight up trend, over say last month I think.

I am working on adding some new features to the front of the site, and I am about to overhaul a few things site wide.

Dear Honorable Charles, and Subservient Forum members! I did not realize how young the forum was last year when I joined. And yet, in it's infancy, allchile was THE outline and resource for our move to Chile. I guess it's like having a child, and not realizing how much it's grown until you go back and look at pictures.

Truly, because of the members of this forum, we've managed to make the move here fairly painlessly. Thanks to ALL on the forum who post, and continue to post. The wiki is coming along incredibly!

Vicki, who blindly drove forward as a member in the top ten new members!

6000+ posts

Postby mlightheart on Wed Dec 19, 2007 9:30 pm

After catching up on some reading, I noticed that there were over 6000 posts on the forum. A little slower pace than the last 1000, but it is still climbing.

Once we get here, we have less time to ask questions, and more necessity to "git er done". Arriving, you find yourself in a frenzy of putting it all together, figuring it out, and spending less time in the evenings tapping the keyboard. I wonder how many people who have started out here have made the move? Can we take a poll?

users to Chile

Postby admin on Thu Dec 20, 2007 8:11 am

yea, a poll of how many users started here would really help me out tweaking the forum promotion.

There are few reasons outside my control for the slowdown in posts. One I figure is just seasonal. People in the Sept to Nov months are either dealing with the holidays, or in transit to Chile.

The more disturbing recent change was the sharp drop in activity across all of our sites because of the economic problems in the States. A very large percentage of our users and visitors tend to be from the U.S. Other countries seem to be holding steady for the most part, but most of the World is in trouble.

The strength of the peso does not help people trying to decide where to move either. In fact our user stats track fairly well the peso move. I am talking about across all of our sites in general.

We also had the bad luck for this perfect storm to form at a critical part of the year when people are making plans for their Dec to Jan travels.

Things do seem to have picked up however in recent weeks.

We will keep growing. Little by little as Chile's expat community grows.
