health insurance: retirement in Chile

Postby El ovallino » Thu Jul 19, 2007 8:15 pm

Hi, everybody, I'm new to this forum and I have some questions that I hope can be answered. My wife and I are from Chile but we've been out of the country for 37 years, so we're a little lost about things in Chile rigth now. We're going to retire in a few years and want to go back to live there but we don't know anything about health insurance or how to go about it or who to ask...So I was hoping some of you can tell me something or direct me to the right person or institution to get answers.
Thanks you for your time.
P.S: We are US citizens now.

welcome to the Chile forum.

Yea, if it is not answered on the forum, it will be soon.

Nothing personal, and you did nothing wrong, but I am going to rename this thread as it just by accident happens that two people used the same title today. Popular subject.

We have a series of articles coming on retirement in Chile to be published around all the sites. likely sometime this week we will start getting them out.

El ovallino, I'm in the same situation and clueless as you, but little at a time I have been finding some answers. The difference is...I'm going back next year with or w/o answers. I HAD IT!! ¡Agarraré mis pilchas y me voy!

Hi Gloria, when next year are you going? We'll be going probably in a couple of years, after we retire. I hope once you are there let us know if you find out something about health insurance.
Till next time.

Hola Ovallino!

We're in the same situation (almost): still have 8-10 years before retirement, and my husband is not Chilean - but just like you, we're planning on moving in 2-3 years.

I've found this forum to be a godsend in terms of information. I've truly grateful to all.

Good luck!

Gloria...

I thought you were already in Chile? Are coming back to the US?
Are you fed up of being in Chile??

BTW, I am also on the same boat and going back to Chile in a couple of months!
