Where to go for classy kitchen appliances in Santiago?

Postby ExpatBob » Fri Aug 17, 2012 4:23 pm

Anyone have a tip for where we might find some nice high-quality gourmet/pro/semipro gas stoves and/or a good selection of stainless kitchen appliances in Santiago (not the standard-issue little tiny South American easy-bake ovens with the 4 burners that are too close together to use 4 pots or pans so really you may as well have just 1 burner)? I have seen some decent-looking cooktop-only things in various Sodimac/Easy/Homy stores but we're looking for a single unit range/stove sort of device. I'm guessing that the "good stuff" is available somewhere but we just haven't found it yet.
Thanks

Most brands are represented in Chile by someone, I have found importation of several pieces at a time for personal use about 50-70% cheaper than buying in Chile where markup on Wolf/Sub Zero and the like can be 200-300% even on orders prepaid and 6-7 months wait for delivery. For Sub Zero try Top Kitchen up in Vitacura on Av. Neuva Costanear 4031, you will find with prestige products they don’t haggle much.

You can get Miele here. They have a little showroom in Parque Arauco, top floor.

When we bought the house we got all new appliances and most of them I got from Trotter. Do not buy in Trotter. There were bits missing I never got, despite calling endlessly. The stove looked great but the knobs fell off after a few months. A friend had warned me but I thought if it cost that much it must be good, right? No.
