Chile police find arsenal in 74-year-old's apartments

Police in Chile have arrested a man who had a weapons arsenal at two apartments he owns in the capital, Santiago.

The officers found dozens of short- and long-range weapons and more than 20,000 rounds of ammunition.

The 74-year-old man was also hiding Chilean and foreign cash worth $1.5m.

Officials said they would investigate if the suspect, a metal merchant, had any links to metal dealer and gun collector Italo Nolli, who shot two Chilean police officers last year.

Nolli, 68, was shot dead during a police chase after he had previously killed two officers who had stopped him at a routine checkpoint.

Interesting story. I wish I knew more of the details, ferinstance the first guy Nolli, routine checkpoint, did he have some stuff on him? Weapons? Lotsa unaccountable cash? Must have, to shoot two paco's? Or just a paranoid flip out? Anyone have more info?

The 74 y.o. guy? Jeez, 1.5M and he's stock-piling weapons in apartments? Not a good way to enjoy retirement. Why are people so stupid? If it was me I'd be dating Chilena TV personalities and models 40 years younger than me. If you need excitement women are far more dangerous than machine guns. :D

Well, the story goes these guys were actually making their money off of illegal scrap metal. There has been some talk of drugs, but the I actuelly think these guys could have made that much money off of stolen copper.
