Activating Movistar Phone without a RUT. Possible?

Postby samblackbones » Sun Jun 24, 2012 7:58 pm

Howdy all,
I am sorry if this is a redundant thread but I couldn't find it anywhere.
I am in Santiago, trying to activate a Movistar phone for which I bought a prepaid plan, and the registration is asking me for a RUT before anything else. My student visa does not have a RUT, nor do any of my entry documents.
Does anyone know how to go about circumventing the RUT issue without speaking to someone?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

I activated mine with my passport #. Went to the main movistar shop and they did it. It took about 5 minutes after they entered the info to activate.

I remember activating my phone with a number of no significance. Should be fine with what ever...
