FYI, a very interesting show has been repeating the past few weeks on cable in the US and Canada on the 1960 disaster in Chile. Two earthquakes, including the biggest ever measured on the Richter scale, followed by flooding and tsunamis, a volcanic eruption and mudslides.
I hope that construction codes were updated and are enforced.
Food for thought.
I forgot to mention three weeks of torrential rain at the same time. Sort of biblical, no?

Chile has the best of everything, including natural disasters. That disaster I believe also included the strongest earthquake ever recorded. Chile also has some very good emergency service plans. Better than a most countries I have been to (and from).
