I believe I saw this ad many months back. May be Startup Chile related. Not surprised they are still looking. "Performance-based" so not even an assured 150.000 CLP with experience.

You dont need to pay minimum wage for interns, actually you dont need to pay anything, they are not hired by the business, and sometimes they are given an allownce for transport and food....

all above hte law.... the $130,000 is perfectly legal,

I didn't know that. Still, I can't think that anyone with the desired qualifications would settle for CLP$150,000. The language skills alone are worth way more than that.

Not really, its perfectly fine, he wants a kid straight out of uni with no experiance..... they are not worht the paper there degree was printed on,

IT Experiance is always worth more than education, look at my last ad, il dont care if you have a degree, didnt even mention in my ad, and even put experiance is worth more than education, if you want a job with me you have atleast 3 years real world experiance (dont even care if the real world experiance is not even in IT if the person happens to be a real geek)

I started off working for free for my first 3 months in 1999...... (not even a paid internship)

Yeah, I've never been crazy about the lack of laws surrounding Internships.

There's way too much room for abuse.

In Italy they refer to this as "Stage"
Companies basically take on interns for 6 months, or longer. Basically the maximum amount of time that someone is willing to work for free.
Eventually when the person realises there are no permanent prospects and/or has to start paying the student loans, rent etc.
they leave.

The company takes on another "Stage".
Rinse and Repeat.

Mostly this system benefits the employers.

The question is - why aren't prospective employers willing to at least pay minimum wage,
if they are truly trying to "help" a poor student?
Currently a Citizen of Planet Earth. If this changes I'll be sure to update my status.
